Job summary

Moog Focal in Halifax, NS is seeking a Materials & Logistics Lead to guide the Materials & Logistics team, ensuring safe operations, accurate inventory, and uninterrupted production support.

You will partner with Production, Planning, Procurement, Supply Chain and Finance to prioritize material requirements, drive KPI improvements, and lead Lean initiatives across warehousing, shipping, and internal logistics.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in materials management, warehousing, inventory control, logistics, or supply chain operations within manufacturing.
  • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience with ability to develop employees.
  • Strong knowledge of material management, inventory control, planning, and production support processes.
  • Experience optimizing material flow and driving operational improvements in manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and inventory accuracy best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Materials & Logistics team with coaching, training, and performance management.
  • Oversee material handling, warehousing, shipping, receiving, and internal logistics to support production and customers.
  • Ensure materials are received, stored, replenished, and delivered efficiently for schedules.
  • Collaborate with Production, Planning, Procurement, Supply Chain and Finance to prioritize material requirements.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts and variance resolution; monitor KPIs.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize material flow and warehousing efficiency.
  • Develop standard work, process documents, and visual controls for consistency and compliance.
  • Manage resources, scheduling, equipment, and capacity to meet demand while complying with policies.

In This Role As a Working Lead, You Will
  • Lead and develop the Materials & Logistics team, fostering a safe, accountable, and high-performing work environment through coaching, training, and performance management.
  • Oversee all material handling, warehousing, shipping, receiving, and internal logistics activities to ensure uninterrupted support of production and customer requirements.
  • Ensure materials are received, stored, replenished, and delivered efficiently to support production schedules and operational priorities.
  • Partner with Production, Planning, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to prioritize material requirements, resolve issues, and support business objectives.
  • Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy through effective inventory control practices, cycle counting, transaction management, and variance resolution.
  • Monitor and drive key performance indicators related to inventory accuracy, material availability, productivity, service levels, and operational performance.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on optimizing material flow, warehouse utilization, inventory management, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain standard work, process documentation, and visual controls to support consistency, compliance, and best practices.
  • Manage departmental resources, including workforce planning, scheduling, equipment, and capacity requirements, to meet operational demands.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.

What You Bring
  • 5+ years of experience in materials management, warehousing, inventory control, logistics, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience, with a proven ability to lead teams, drive accountability, and develop employees.
  • Strong knowledge of material management, inventory control, material planning, and production support processes.
  • Experience optimizing material flow and driving operational improvements in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, inventory transaction management, and inventory accuracy best practices (SAP experience considered an asset).
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Experience developing, monitoring, and improving operational KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective cross‑functional relationships.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet challenging deadlines.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, continuous learning, and customer satisfaction.
  • Experience working within ISO or other structured quality management systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies is considered an asset.
