Job description

Materials Handler / Shipper-Receiver

THERMO KING WESTERN INC. Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

About this position

You see more than materials—you see what keeps production moving.

A shipment of steel becomes tomorrow's flat deck. A pallet of components keeps a truck build on schedule. And when the right materials are in the right place at the right time, our entire operation runs better.

At TK Truck Body, we’re looking for someone who takes pride in keeping things organized, accurate, and moving.

If you're dependable, hands-on, and enjoy working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, we'd love to meet you.

About Us

TK Truck Body is a division of Thermo King Western, a proudly Canadian, family-owned company serving customers across Western Canada for more than 60 years.

We design, build, install, and service commercial truck equipment, including service bodies, flat decks, dump bodies, cranes, liftgates, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and custom fleet upfits.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Materials Handler / Shipper-Receiver to join our team.

You’ll help manage the flow of materials throughout our operation—from receiving incoming shipments and organizing inventory to staging materials for production and preparing finished goods for shipment.

Most importantly, you’ll help make sure our production team has what they need, where they need it, when they need it.

What You’ll Do
  • Receive, unload, inspect, and verify incoming materials and equipment.
  • Match shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and receiving documentation.
  • Accurately receive and track materials in our ERP/inventory system.
  • Label, organize, store, and safely move materials throughout the facility.
  • Stage and deliver materials to production areas.
  • Maintain accurate inventory quantities and locations.
  • Participate in cycle counts and investigate inventory discrepancies.
  • Prepare, package, document, and load outgoing shipments.
  • Coordinate with freight carriers as required.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead cranes, and other material-handling equipment as trained.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse, yard, and material storage areas.
  • Communicate material shortages, discrepancies, or potential production delays.
  • Work closely with production, purchasing, parts, and management to keep work moving.
  • Follow company safety procedures and contribute to continuous improvement.
What Success Looks Like

The people who thrive here:

  • Take pride in keeping materials organized and inventory accurate.
  • Work with urgency when production needs something.
  • Notice discrepancies and solve problems rather than ignoring them.
  • Communicate shortages and issues early.li>
  • Are dependable, organized, and safety-minded.
  • Enjoy supporting a team and keeping work moving.
  • Look for better ways to organize materials and improve workflow.
Qualifications

  • Previous shipping, receiving, warehouse, manufacturing, or material‑handling experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn our ERP system.
  • Ability to read purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documents.
  • Forklift experience or certification is an asset.
  • Overhead crane experience is an asset.
  • Manufacturing or industrial experience is an asset.
