Hey there! Are you an engineering wizard looking for a new challenge? Are you ready to take your engineering skills to the next level? Do you love solving mysteries and puzzles? If yes, CEP Forensic is the best place for you to pursue a career!

Founded in 1972 by 3 engineers specialized in electrical failures and fire, our company now employs 135 workers spread across 10 offices throughout Canada. In over 50 years of existence, CEP Forensic has successfully determined the most probable cause of a loss or a failure in over 120,000 cases. Typically, insurance companies, or attorneys in case of litigation, assign our experts to produce reports in a wide range of fields: Fire Investigation, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical and Biomechanical, Structural and Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Collision Reconstruction, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering as well as Environmental Science.

We're looking for top-notch investigators and engineers who can tackle complex scenarios and solve mysteries. If you're someone who takes your job seriously but also has a great sense of humor, we want you on our team.

The quest:

As a forensic expert, you will be called upon to solve some of the most unique and puzzling cases in the field of materials and metallurgy. Amongst other things, you will touch on the composition of different polymers, ceramics, metals, and composites to characterize them using ultra-precise tools. No mystery is too microscopic or too macroscopic for you. You can solve them all! You will have to:

  1. Carry out, at the scene and/or in our laboratory, assessments related to breakage and failure of a great variety of materials (polymer, metal, ceramic parts, coatings, composites, etc.).
  2. Carry out observations, analyses, assemblies, and laboratory tests. Document tangible evidence by taking photographs, videos, samples, readings, and any other information that you deem useful in order to solve the puzzle.
  3. Interview witnesses and other parties involved in the investigation, all while showcasing your incredible social interpersonal and communication skills.
  4. Characterize materials macroscopically and microscopically as well as establish the mechanisms of rupture, degradation, and damage.
  5. Collect and analyze data as well as other evidence.
  6. Write convincing and accessible reports to a reader who’s not an expert in the field. These reports detail all the stages of the investigation which led you to a logical and unequivocal conclusion.
  7. Collaborate with other investigators to solve multidisciplinary mysteries.
  8. Promote the company through your friendly and professional attitude during your interactions with customers and strengthen your relationships with them.
  9. Earn monthly and annual bonuses when you go beyond your goals—your hard work pays off!

What’s in your bag?

  1. University degree in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering.
  2. Knowledge of material properties, typical failure mechanisms, and types of testing with the ability to use a variety of test equipment and devices.
  3. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation preferred.
  4. At least 3 years of experience in materials failure investigations and analysis.
  5. Excellent skills in synthesizing and analyzing information as well as solving problems.
  6. Client relations management skills.
  7. Great attention to efficiency and detail, excellent sense of organization and priorities.
  8. Being able to work and be involved in several projects at the same time.
  9. Curiosity, good judgment, and initiative.
  10. Be able to express yourself fluently with excellent communication skills in French and English, both orally and in writing.
  11. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously by using effective time management skills.

But here’s the thing – we’re not just looking for someone who meets our requirements alone. We’re looking for someone who will bring to the table a great personality, passion, and love for the forensic profession where some of the following benefits are waiting for you:

The benefits:

  1. Fun and supportive work environment.
  2. Opportunity for professional growth.
  3. Competitive benefits package including health, dental, vision, massages, mental wellbeing, employee and family assistance programs, virtual health consulting, fitness and home office allowance, paid time off including your birthday, employee events and fun activities & more.
  4. A chance to work with some seriously awesome people.

So, if you are proud of your engineering expertise and are known for your passion in finding root and cause of failures and damages of things, and you love the quest, got a bag full of your tools and excited about the loot, be our next top-notch expert!
