Job summary

Fluor Canada is seeking a Material Planning Lead to guide material planning on medium to large EPC projects. You will lead a team, develop workflows, and coordinate with procurement to ensure timely material delivery aligned with work packaging.

The role requires a four-year degree and extensive experience, strong analytical skills, and advanced Excel abilities. Travel may be required; a competitive compensation package is offered in a compressed work schedule with every second Friday off.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or global equivalent in applicable field and extensive work experience; 12+ years if degreed or 16+ years if non-degreed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences including management, coworkers, clients, vendors and contractors.
  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to apply learning to project requirements.
  • Ability to learn and apply local, provincial, and federal guidelines.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a material management workflow plan and responsibility matrix from material identification to delivery to the contractor.
  • Coordinate engineering and material control with procurement to identify materials for purchase aligned with project work packaging.
  • Review project requirements and develop discipline staffing plans to identify suitable skill sets.
  • Provide performance feedback to project personnel for development.
  • Analyze material status reports to communicate availability, constraints, and risks to stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve data inconsistencies related to material status, quantities, and requirements.

Job Description

Position Summary: The role of Material Planning Lead provides leadership for all related material planning activities on medium to large, complex EPC projects. This role is part of the leadership team and is responsible for the developing and executing

  • Develop a material management workflow plan and responsibility matrix from the identification of material through to delivery of material to the contractor
  • Coordinate engineering and material control activities with procurement to identify materials for purchase in alignment with project work packaging requirements
  • Review project requirements and develop discipline specific staffing plan for review and identify suitable skillsets for staffing
  • Coordinate engineering and material control activities with procurement to identify materials for purchase in alignment with project work packaging requirements
  • Manage disciple specific personnel on project and provide performance feedback for development
  • Analyze material status reports to clearly communicate material availability, constraints and risks to stakeholders
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve data inconsistencies related to material status, quantities, and requirements
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP/MRP systems is an asset
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Adhere to and support Fluor’s Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
  • May need to travel to attend to business related matters
  • Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality
  • Other duties as assigned
Basic Job Requirements
  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and twelve (12) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to sixteen (16) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Compressed work schedule: The Fluor Canada offices work a compressed work schedule offering every second Friday off.

Salary is based upon experience. Salary Range: $118,000.00 - $218,000.00

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
