Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Head, Corporate Services, the Material Management Officer is responsible for coordinating, planning, organizing and controlling material management functions within the Region.
- Coordinate the receipt of items by processing and verifying accuracy of items received with documentation.
- Inspect deliveries, damages or losses, initiate tracing action with companies and commercial carriers.
- Organize distribution and deployment/shipping of items by making necessary verifications against documents, preparing the items and hand delivery/pick up to/by clients.
- Control all specialized equipment by inspecting and maintaining in good working order and where necessary, operate special equipment requiring a certification.
- Coordinate delivery of shipments to and from HQ/Regions/District offices by determining the methods of transportation based on cost and urgency of requirements.
- Administer all activities with respect to tracking, inventory management and disposal of all regional non-consumable assets.
- Coordinate repair of furniture and furnishings by liaising with clients and companies.
- Prepare items and handle delivery/pick up to/by clients.
- Perform other duties related to technical and/or general office supplies stores.

Education
- College certificate or diploma in an applicable field (administration, management, business, trades training) and (3) years of experience**, or
- High school diploma and (4) years of experience**.
The College Certificate or Diploma must be obtained from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada. If you completed a program outside of Canada you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency
at your expense from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada.
A higher level of Education (Undergraduate degree) may be used for some of the experience.
Experience
- Relevant experience is defined as:
- Experience providing administrative support, including: planning and coordinating multiple interrelated administrative activities
- Experience using a variety of software, including but not limited to: word processing, e-mail, database and spreadsheet applications
- Experience liaising with managers and employees at all levels
- Experience providing client services

Assets
An asset qualification is a qualification which can enhance the ability to perform the work based on current and future business requirements, but which is not strictly required. Assets can help determine right fit in certain circumstances
- Experience in asset management, administering the life cycle of assets by tracking, receiving, transferring, loaning and disposal of assets.
Conditions of Employment- Hold and maintain a valid and permanent full Canadian driver’s license
- Defined as a G Class (Ontario) or minimum of a Class 5 (remainder of Canada). Learner’s and Novice licenses will not be accepted.
- Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull a minimum of 20 kgs (45 lbs) and maintain the physical demands of the position.
- Ability to use various hand tools and ladders.
- Forklift certification (will provide training)
