Job summary

SGS, the world-leading testing, inspection and certification company, is seeking an administrative professional to support material management for its Life Science Services Laboratories in Canada. The role requires multitasking with lab staff and clients, accurate LIMS data entry, and adherence to SOPs in a dynamic setting.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, with asset qualifications in post-secondary administration and pharma experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required; a post-secondary admin program is an asset.
  • Experience in an administrative or technical role in a pharmaceutical environment is an asset.
  • Prior chemistry-related technical experience is preferred.
  • Must read, understand and follow SOPs safely, accurately and timely.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and keyboarding skills.
  • Highly organized and able to handle changing priorities in a demanding setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support in material management for SGS Life Science Services Laboratories.
  • Coordinate with laboratory supervisors and clients; multi-task to meet departmental needs.
  • Enter standards and reagents into the LIMS system accurately and promptly.
  • Operate with limited supervision and maintain urgency to meet standards.
  • Maintain data integrity and timely data entry to avoid incorrect transfers.
  • Work effectively both independently and with others in a high-pressure environment.

Job Description
  • This position provides administrative support in material management to the SGS Life Science Services Laboratories.
  • The incumbent must be capable of multi-tasking to meet the departmental needs working with laboratory supervisors and clients on a regular basis.
  • Standards and reagents are entered into LIMS system accurately and on timely manner in order to avoid incorrect data transfer to the data base
  • This position operates under limited supervision.
  • Multitasking ability at high level to get job done due to proper priorities listing
  • Work under pressure to meet deadlines based on self-motivated capacity and a sense of urgency in order to meet client and laboratory staff standards/reagents log-in requirements
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or a General Educational Development equivalency (GED).
  • A post-secondary education in a recognized administration program would be an asset.
  • Previous experience in an administrative or technical role in a pharmaceutical environmnet would be an asset.
  • Prior technical experience in a chemistry related role would be preferred.
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions / Standard Operating Procedures in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
  • Candidates must be proficient in using various type of computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.) and be able to demonstrate good keyboarding skills.
  • Must be highly organized and able to work effectively and efficiently in a demanding environment with frequently changing priorities.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
  • Ability to work well with others & independently.
