Purpose

Under direct supervision, handles and maintains the flow of materials and products on the premises according to established guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Physically handle materials used to construct components and finished products, ensuring optimal movement; lift, carry, and stack items as needed.
• Operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment, some requiring specialized training.
• Respond to training from foremen or senior handlers to increase work process knowledge.
• Observe all safety procedures to prevent injuries; attend safety meetings; suggest safety improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or GED; this is an entry-level position with on-the-job training.

Competencies

• Knowledge and ability to operate material handling equipment
• Manual dexterity
• Knowledge of safety procedures
• Ability to follow detailed instructions

Work Environment / Physical Activity

The physical demands include working in a production environment with temperature variations, chemicals, mechanical parts, noise, and dust. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 80 pounds occasionally, with tasks involving climbing, lifting, pushing, or kneeling.
