Located in Ontario, CA, Summit Machine specializes in the rough and finish machining of super alloys for the aerospace, commercial, defense, power, and petroleum industries. Complex components include nickel base, titanium, stainless steel, aluminum and carbon steels with parts ranging in size from 2” OD - 120” OD.

Position Summary:
Material handler duties are to maintain and keep manufacturing flow throughout the shop by moving, delivering, or discarding various materials from the machine shop, parking lot, or other buildings. Good communication and being a team-player is necessary to properly pass down important information from one shift to another and between departments.
This position is designed to support 3rd shift operations (Sunday - Thursday, 8:15PM - 4:45AM), which comes with a shift premium once moved to that shift, which could be approximately 1 - 4 weeks.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety rules, policies, and laws.
- Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
- Maintain traceability of chip bins by using magnetic labels and logging on task sheet.
- Follow internal process to change, drain, or clean bins that are used to carry metal chips.
- Dump chips into correct bins per labels.
- Maintain housekeeping of property yard (area between buildings) where bins and other materials are stored by keeping grounds clean and free of debris, trash, shop rags, oils or fluids.
- Release material or hot jobs to shop floor from scheduling system (training provided).
- Inspect and organize pallets for reuse.
- Inspect forklift at start of every shift.
- Record tasks on router/tracking sheet.
- Wear or carry radio for duration of shift to ensure communication between supervisor/lead.

- Ability to maintain organized work environment within job scope and maintain housekeeping of shop materials on property “yard”.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to arrive to work on time as scheduled and take breaks per company policy and California Wage & Hour laws.
- Learn internal software system related to job schedules (use a computer).
- Ability to follow all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements when on shop floor.
- Ability to obtain forklift certification within 90 days of employment (training provided in house).
Experience & Education:
- HS Diploma, GED or equivalent is required.
- Prior forklift experience is required.
- Prior experience in industrial, automotive, or aerospace manufacturing environment is preferred.
