Job summary

Comco in the Guelph/Puslinch area is seeking a Material Handler reporting to the Warehouse Foreman, responsible for picking and packaging warehouse orders based on sales orders, work orders, and customer requirements.

This full-time role operates 9:30 am–6:00 pm, Monday to Friday, in a safety-sensitive environment. The job includes benefits and a pension plan; on-call/OT may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 0–3 years of related warehouse distribution experience.
• Experience operating material handling equipment including forklift.
• Able to work well in a team and independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Knowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Must be able to lift/move 50 lbs.
• Manual dexterity required.

Responsibilities

• Safely pick, package, and tag products per orders.
• Load, unload, and move products by hand or with equipment.
• Verify product and record heat numbers, manufacturers, and quantities.
• Ensure proper identification and packaging for shipping.
• Communicate shortages or errors to Foreman.
• Assist in inventory and required overtime/on-call hours.

Job description

Reporting to the Warehouse Foreman, as the Material Handler you will be directly responsibility for the picking and packaging of warehouse orders based on sales orders, work orders, and customer requirements. The Material Handler must understand the impact of this position to other business functions that depend on the accuracy and efficiency of warehouse operations.

Shift: 9:30 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely picks, packages, and tags products according to sales orders, in a timely manner:
• Load, unload, and move products by hand or mobile equipment;
• Verify and visually inspect product;
• Record product heat numbers, manufacturers, and quantities;
• Ensure product is properly identified and packaged for shipping.
• Communicate any product overages, shortages, or errors directly to the Foreman;
• Assist in resolving problems when required;
• Ensure warehouse is free of debris and hazards;
• Participate in clean-up and pre-inspection of equipment;
• Assist in annual inventory;
• Participate in On-Call / OT hours, as required.

Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma
• Work Experience: 0 –3 years related warehouse distribution
• Demonstrated ability to operate material handling equipment including forklift
• Able to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
• Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
• Knowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques
• Basic mathematical skills
• Must be able to carry and move product and/or supplies of 50lbs
• Physical effort requiring manual dexterity;
