Job summary

Comco in Edmonton is seeking a Material Handler responsible for picking, packing, and tagging warehouse orders based on sales orders and work orders. You will work under the Warehouse Foreman to support accurate and efficient operations.

Responsibilities include using manual or mobile equipment to move products, verifying details, and preparing shipments. The role requires teamwork, good communication, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. A pre-employment health assessment is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 0–3 years related warehouse distribution experience.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment including forklift.
• Team player capable of working independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques.
• Able to move products up to 50 lbs.
• Pre-employment health assessment and drug screening required.

Responsibilities

• Safely pick, package, and tag products per sales orders.
• Load, unload, and move products by hand or with equipment.
• Verify and visually inspect products.
• Record heat numbers, manufacturers, and quantities.
• Ensure proper identification and packaging for shipping.
• Communicate shortages or errors to the Foreman.
• Assist in problem resolution and safety housekeeping.
• Participate in annual inventory.
• On-Call / OT hours as required.

Job description

Reporting to the Warehouse Foreman, as the Material Handler you will be directly responsibility for the picking and packaging of warehouse orders based on sales orders, work orders, and customer requirements. The Material Handler must understand the impact of this position to other business functions that depend on the accuracy and efficiency of warehouse operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely picks, packages, and tags products according to sales orders, in a timely manner:
• Load, unload, and move products by hand or mobile equipment;
• Verify and visually inspect product;
• Record product heat numbers, manufacturers, and quantities;
• Ensure product is properly identified and packaged for shipping.
• Communicate any product overages, shortages, or errors directly to the Foreman;
• Assist in resolving problems when required;
• Ensure warehouse is free of debris and hazards;
• Participate in clean-up and pre-inspection of equipment;
• Assist in annual inventory;
• Participate in On-Call / OT hours, as required.

Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma
• Work Experience: 0 –3 years related warehouse distribution
• Demonstrated ability to operate material handling equipment including forklift
• Able to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
• Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
• Knowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques
• Basic mathematical skills
• Must be able to carry and move product and/or supplies of 50lbs
• Physical effort requiring manual dexterity;
