Position Summary
The Master Scheduler reports to the Director of Recurring and Refurbishment Programs and serves as a key liaison across various departments including Manufacturing, Sales, Operations, Engineering, Technical Services, Legal, HR, and Finance. This role may also involve coordination with external consultants. The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining complex project schedules to support aviation manufacturing programs.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop executive-level presentation materials clearly articulating impacts on the project’s critical path.
• Interpret engineering and manufacturing project documentation to build and maintain the master project schedule.
• Understand project scope and create a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) aligned with project requirements.
• Prepare comprehensive master schedules for high-complexity projects using Critical Path Method (CPM), integrating demand plans from the Demand Planning Department.
• Apply cost and resource loading to the schedule as required.
• Regularly update project schedules, monitor progress, and assess impacts to the critical path.
• Perform schedule delay analyses to support change requests and sensitivity studies under varying project conditions.
• Generate short-term look-ahead schedules to aid in tactical planning.
• Interpret contract obligations related to project timelines and communicate dependencies and third-party interfaces within the schedule basis narrative.
• Collaborate with the Integrated Project Team to establish and approve baseline schedules in line with program objectives and milestones.
• Document interfaces between key project functions: design, procurement, aviation build, testing and certification, supply chain, manufacturing, and legal.
• Prepare and publish regular Schedule Performance Reports, including dashboards, Earned Value Analysis (EVA), Schedule Performance Index (SPI), S-curves, milestone trend analysis, and variance analysis.
• Identify and communicate risks and opportunities related to scheduling and actively participate in mitigation and response planning.
• Propose and facilitate corrective actions related to manufacturing delays, including schedule mitigation and resequencing strategies.
Education & Experience
• Minimum 5 years of planning and scheduling experience in aviation manufacturing projects.
• Experience in managing at least one full project lifecycle, from initiation to closeout.
• Direct aerospace industry experience is required.
• Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical disciplines from a college or technical institution.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Aerospace Engineering preferred.
• Relevant certifications are considered assets: PMP, PMI-SP, PSP, EIT, P.Eng, CCDA, CET.
Skills & Competencies
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) at intermediate to advanced levels.
• Advanced skills in MS Teams and schedule development.
• Strong command of project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and ERP systems.
• Intermediate knowledge of SQL.
• Intermediate knowledge of Power BI.
