Job summary

PTW Energy Services seeks a Master Electrician to join our Ontario team on a permanent basis. You will provide senior electrical expertise, oversee installations, and ensure work complies with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and OH&S standards.

You will lead crews, interpret drawings, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with other trades on industrial projects. A strong safety mindset and willingness to mentor junior staff are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Valid ME licence and, if applicable, 309A or Red Seal.
  • Extensive industrial electrical construction/maintenance experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and OH&S requirements.
  • Ability to lead crews and provide technical direction.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and specs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in electrical systems.
  • Proficiency with electrical hand tools, testing devices, and equipment.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Certifications: AWP/EMP, CSO, ESTS, Fall Protection, First Aid.
  • Willingness to pass pre-access drug/alcohol test; overtime/weekend availability.
  • Ability to work in varying environments (height, confined spaces, outdoors).
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee electrical installations, maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and commissioning on industrial projects.
  • Provide technical direction and support to Journeyperson Electricians, Apprentices, and other personnel.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, OH&S requirements, project specs, and policies.
  • Inspect installations and work to ensure quality and compliance with codes.
  • Perform testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Coordinate activities with other trades, contractors, supervisors, and site personnel.
  • Support planning, scheduling, and execution of electrical work to meet project requirements.
  • Complete required documentation, work orders, inspections, and reports.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture and safe work practices.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced electrical personnel.

Role Summary

We are seeking a Master Electrician to join our team in Ontario on a permanent basis. The Master Electrician will provide senior-level electrical expertise, oversee electrical installations and work activities, and ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee electrical installations, maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and commissioning on industrial projects and sites.
  • Provide technical direction and support to Journeyperson Electricians, Apprentices, and other electrical personnel.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Ensure electrical work complies with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, OH&S requirements, project specifications, and company policies.
  • Inspect electrical installations and completed work to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Perform testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Identify and resolve electrical issues and provide technical solutions as required.
  • Coordinate electrical activities with other trades, contractors, supervisors, and site personnel.
  • Support the planning, scheduling, and execution of electrical work to meet project requirements.
  • Complete required documentation, work orders, inspections, and reports.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture and ensure safe work practices are followed at all times.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced electrical personnel.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Valid Ontario Master Electrician Licence (ME) issued by the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA).
  • Valid Ontario Construction and Maintenance Electrician licence (309A) and/or Red Seal certification.
  • Strong industrial construction and/or maintenance electrical experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and applicable Ontario health and safety requirements.
  • Previous experience providing technical direction or leading electrical crews is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with electrical hand tools, testing devices, and electrical equipment.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Valid AWP/EMP, CSO, ESTS, Fall Protection, and First Aid certifications.
  • Ability to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test, where required.
  • Flexible availability for overtime and occasional weekends as required.
  • Ability to work in various environments, including heights, confined spaces, and outdoor conditions.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
