Job summary

PTW Energy Services is seeking Local Electrical Journeypersons and Apprentices for an upcoming Southern Ontario electrical service project in a heavy industrial setting. The work includes decommissioning, demolition, and isolation of electrical equipment, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality in a warehouse conversion.

Local Electrical Journeypersons & Apprentices – Southern Ontario

PTW is currently seeking Local Electrical Journeypersons and Apprentices, to join our team in Southern Ontario for an upcoming industrial Electrical Serviceproject.

THE PROJECT

This project involves the decommissioning, demolition, and abandonment of electrical equipment within an existing compressor building that is being converted into a warehouse.

Key responsibilities will include safely removing electrical equipment and ensuring all equipment and circuits are properly isolated, electrically dead, and safe for the next phase of the project.

Project Details:

• Anticipated Start: August 17, 2026
• Duration: Approximately 1 month
• Schedule: 4 x 5/2 shifts
• Hours: 10-hour days
• Crew Required: 4 Electrical Workers
  • 2 Journeypersons
  • 2 Apprentices
• Leadership: 1 Lead Hand / Foreman to oversee and coordinate the work
• Location: Southern Ontario
• Preference: Workers from the Niagara Region and surrounding areas

There are no flights included in the bid, so preference will be given to qualified local workers who can commute to the project. Travel time and subsistence may be available in some circumstances; however, local candidates are strongly preferred. Where suitable local workers cannot be found, some travel costs may need to be accommodated.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

As an Electrical Journeyperson or Apprentice, you will work safely as part of an industrial electrical crew performing DDA activities, including:

• Reading and interpreting drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications.
• Safely de-energizing, isolating, and verifying electrical equipment and circuits.
• Removing, disconnecting, examining, and replacing electrical equipment and components as required.
• Testing electrical and electronic equipment for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
• Working with AC/DC motors and drives, PLCs, 480V power, 120V control circuits, switchgear, transformers, motors, starters, relays, and electrical controls.
• Installing, removing, or modifying electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components.
• Working with 3-phase systems, motor terminations, control and instrument troubleshooting, and panel work.
• Fabricating, installing, and running conduit.
• Following all site safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and electrical safety practices.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Electrical Journeypersons

• Must be a Certified Electrical Journeyperson.
• Must possess heavy industrial and/or oil & gas electrical experience.
• Experience with industrial decommissioning, demolition, abandonment, or shutdown work is an asset.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Reliable, dependable, and punctual.
• Demonstrated commitment to working safely.

Electrical Apprentices

• Registered Electrical Apprentice with relevant industrial electrical experience.
• Heavy industrial, oil & gas, shutdown, or DDA experience is an asset.
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely under the direction of Journeypersons and site leadership.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.

Lead Hand / Foreman

• Journeyperson certification with strong industrial electrical experience.
• Previous leadership or foreman experience preferred.
• Ability to coordinate a small electrical crew and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to project requirements.
• Strong knowledge of electrical isolation, de-energization, and safe work practices.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

SAFETY TICKET REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must have valid and current applicable safety certifications. Required and/or preferred tickets include:

• CSTS-20
• Standard First Aid
• Fall Protection
• AWP
• H2S Alive
• CSO
• ESTS

Additional standard safety tickets are considered an asset.

A valid Class 5 driver's licence is also required.
