Job summary

Securiguard Services Ltd. is seeking a customer-facing security guard to ensure safety and security aboard BC Ferries as they travel coast to coast.

This dynamic role requires responding to incidents, maintaining a visible security presence, and engaging with passengers with exceptional service. Candidates must hold a BC Security License with AST, OFA Intermediate, a valid driver license, and reliable vehicle.

Qualifications

• BC Security License and AST (advanced security training) is a MUST.
• OFA Intermediate is a MUST.
• Driver License and reliable personal vehicle is a MUST.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Comfortable with radio communication.
• Ability to write reports on job-related activities.
• Comfort working independently and in varying weather conditions.
• Punctuality and reliability.
• Physically capable of standing and walking for 8+ hours.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and security of onboard vessels.
• Monitoring for suspicious activity through static patrols to ensure the safety and security of passengers, staff, and assets.
• Responding to incidents, including disturbance, safety concerns and emergencies, while following established procedures and use-of-force guidelines where applicable.
• Act as a visible and proactive security presence and deterrent to support a safe environment.
• Engage with the public to provide assistance, direction, and exceptional customer service.
• Perform security procedures including unlock/lock-up checks and routine inspections.
• Operate communication tools such as radios and escape incidents as necessary.
• Manage high-pressure situations with professionalism, sound judgment, and a calm demeanor.
• Identify, report, and help mitigate safety hazards.
• Support passenger safety and satisfaction during coast-to-coast travel.

Our Security Guards are offered employment in a dynamic role in one of the most unique work environments that BC Ferries has to offer. This customer-facing role has the crucial responsibility of making our passengers feel safe and secure as they travel from coast to coast.

The Day to Day:
