Job summary

Ontario Shipyards Inc. in St. Catharines, ON is hiring a Mechanical Fitter (Tail-End) to disassemble, inspect, repair and reassemble mechanical ship components. You will read blueprints, fit parts precisely and ensure systems operate reliably according to engineering specs.

You will work under the Mechanical Supervisor with Field Service Representatives, maintain safety practices, and contribute to on-time vessel maintenance across our shipyard operations on Lake Ontario.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on mechanical fitting experience in construction or maintenance settings.
  • Understanding of rigging safety and safe movement of heavy components.
  • Must have ability to read blueprints and follow specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair and reassemble mechanical ship components.
  • Read blueprints and fit parts precisely to engineering specs.
  • Service propulsion, steering and deck machinery on ships.
  • Perform hydrostatic/pressure tests of tanks and components.
  • Maintain safety and collaborate with team to meet deadlines.
