Job summary

Ontario Shipyards is seeking a Welder-Fitter to join our team in Hamilton. You will fabricate, assemble, and weld structural metal components for vessel construction and repair, interpreting blueprints and applying various welding methods.

Responsibilities include maintaining safety, performing tool inspections, reading drawings, and ensuring quality through accurate work records. Prior ship repair experience is an asset; Red Seal and CWB certifications are valued assets as well.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on fitting/welding experience in construction or maintenance.
• CWB certification is required.
• Red Seal is an asset.
• Strong safety mindset and ability to read engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to plan materials, sequences, and efficiency.
• Cut, shape, fit, and assemble structural metal components using welding and fabrication techniques.
• Rig, hoist and transport materials safely within the worksite.
• Operate heavy metalworking equipment and welding processes to cut, bend, punch and shape components.
• Maintain accurate records for quality control and project documentation.
• Collaborate with teammates and adapt to meet deadlines.
