Marine Construction Health & Safety Field Officer

Join to apply for the Marine Construction Health & Safety Field Officer role at WSP in Canada.

WSP is seeking a field-based Health & Safety Officer to oversee day-to-day health and safety during marine construction projects in BC, Canada. The role reports to the Construction Manager and is part of the WSP field team. The position is expected to start in June 2025 and run until February 2026, with potential for extension.

This opportunity involves a rotation schedule of two weeks on and two weeks off at a remote project site near Squamish, BC. Travel to the site is paid by WSP.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with HSE legislation, regulations, and standards
  • Work in the field on a rotation basis, 10-13 hours per day, including alternating day and night shifts
  • Travel by boat as required
  • Promote safety culture, lead safety meetings, conduct inspections, and report incidents
  • Coordinate with all project stakeholders on safety matters
  • Assess risks, control hazards, and implement corrective actions
  • Provide safety training and ensure PPE use
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of marine construction health and safety experience
  • Valid First Aid certificate or ability to obtain within two weeks
  • BC CSA SiteReadyBC training or ability to pass it
  • Strong communication skills and safety leadership
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
  • Valid full Class 5 driver’s license
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in marine vessel environments
