Job summary

Graphic Packaging International in Mississauga, ON is seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor to lead and improve production activities within our facility. This hands-on role requires coordinating with all levels of staff and aligning operations with customer needs and company goals.

The ideal candidate has a BA degree or equivalent, 3–5 years in a folding carton plant, strong communication and leadership skills, and experience with SAP and MS Office.

  • Optimizes production using ongoing improvement tools (5S, Kaizen, SMED, TPM, etc.).
  • Interacts with Customer Service and Sales regarding incoming orders.
  • Communicates with Plant Manager and other department managers regarding the necessary equipment and materials to run product.
  • Resolves customer/sales issues with scheduling.

JOB SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Supervisor position is responsible for developing, improving and maintaining all production activities within our organization, as well as, direct involvement with process improvement projects throughout the facility. This is a hands-on position in a manufacturing environment that will work with all levels of employees and management within our facility and coordinating ideas into evaluation and implementation. They understand and align business operations and Production as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinates and manages all production activities (production planning, acquisitions, product manufacturing, quality standard application etc.) on schedule

  • Optimizes production (planning work interruptions, implementing systems, structures, tools, work methods, etc.) while never losing sight of deadlines, costs, quality and H&S

  • Optimizes production using ongoing improvement tools (5S, Kaizen, SMED, TPM, etc.)

  • Interacts with Customer Service and Sales regarding incoming orders

  • Communicates with Plant Manager and other department managers regarding the necessary equipment and materials to run product

  • Resolves customer/sales issues with scheduling

  • Ensures production schedule meets customer requirements

  • Maintains Corporate goals for Safety, NLF, OTD, OEE, QSR fill Rate and Working Capital

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Coordinates new business endeavors

  • Coordinate with Structural Designer, Estimator on Packing Specs, layouts, design structure and production throughput for all new business

  • Participates in developing training programs for employees in his/her department and ensures the transfer of knowledge

  • Identifies risky situations and involve the employees in the preventative steps. React adequately and promptly to the employees’ behavior. Be accountable for the employees’ behavior and for the respect of the rules and procedures, and follow up on H&S (regular meetings, occupational health and safety committee, occupational health and safety action plan, audits, accident investigations, safety talks, etc.)

  • Participates and supports all Health and Safety, Food Safety programs, initiatives and GMP’s

  • Must adhere to Graphic Packaging International’s Commitment to SQF (Safe Quality Foods) and HACCP Requirements, Food Safety, and Food Defense, GMP and supports all Health and Safety programs.

  • Shares an obligation to protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging International’s good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and governmental agencies, and to act consistently with our core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork

Safe Quality Food Responsibilities
  • Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.

  • Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.

  • Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.

  • Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).

  • Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation

Education & Experience
  • BA degree or related work experience required in lieu of degree

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a folding carton plant, or equivalent experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to lead and direct others

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and internet research skills

  • Experience with SAP is preferred

Schedule Demands
  • General schedule is 8 hours, Monday to Friday. Must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally that may include early mornings, nights and/or weekends.
Physical Demands
  • Sitting or standing for extended period of time

  • Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.

  • Walking on plant floor

  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices

  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools

Pay Range: $61,000.00 - $81,400.00
