Job description

We’re on the search for a Manufacturing Engineering Technologist on behalf of our client, a growing Canadian manufacturer specializing in custom, low-volume production, who is building out a modern, in-house manufacturing capability. This is a newly created, foundational role, reporting directly to the company’s owner, established because the business has grown beyond the point where they can personally oversee every piece of equipment and process themselves. This is an individual-contributor, technical-expert role rather than a people-management position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain a growing suite of advanced vacuum/centrifugal casting machines, burnout ovens, laser welders, and automated finishing equipment, much of it European-made.
  • Take each new machine from install through to fully validated and running.
  • Design and implement Standard Operating Procedures for casting and finishing processes as the shop scales.
  • Build and maintain safety protocols for the shop.
  • Analyze yields and finishing defects to drive continuous improvement.
  • Train the company’s existing master craftspeople on equipment relevant to their work.
  • Act as the go-to subject-matter expert for the manufacturing shop’s technology.
  • Take personal ownership of a safe working environment, given the high temperatures, chemicals, and sharp tools involved.
Qualifications
  • College diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Several years of hands‑on experience with mechanical equipment, troubleshooting, and process improvement.
  • Strong hands‑on mechanical aptitude; experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment
  • No prior casting or metallurgical experience required, training on the specifics of the casting process will be provided.
  • CAD software experience an asset.
What We’re Looking For
  • A genuinely hands‑on problem‑solver.
  • A patient, low‑ego teacher.
  • Someone drawn to high‑precision, custom‑scale work.
  • Location: On‑site in Cambridge, ON, typically Monday to Friday, regular business hours.
    Term: Full Time, Permanent
