Job summary

Industrial Electric Mfg. (IEM) seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to support development, optimization, and documentation at our Vancouver facility.

Under senior engineers, you will improve production efficiency, maintain quality standards, and assist in projects to enhance manufacturing operations. You will gain hands-on experience in process design, optimization, and quality control, collaborating with engineers to learn and contribute to process curricula for operators and design

Qualifications

  • Technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 standards and safety protocols.
  • Willingness to learn and apply new skills in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the optimization of assembly processes and ensure quality and efficiency standards.
  • Develop and update work instructions and SOPs for consistent production practices.
  • Conduct time studies and develop routings to establish standard work times and improve production planning.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of manufacturing processes and process flow diagrams.
  • Support quality assurance through monitoring processes and root-cause analysis.
  • Contribute to engineering projects including process validations and capacity analysis.
  • Coordinate project tasks and document outcomes with senior engineers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new manufacturing technologies and process changes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Assist in training operators and design engineers on process curricula.

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will support the development, optimization, and documentation of Manufacturing Engineering at the Vancouver facility. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, this role will assist in improving production efficiency, maintaining quality standards, and supporting various engineering projects aimed at enhancing manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
Process Support and Improvement
  • Assist in the optimization of assembly processes, ensuring they meet quality and efficiency standards.
  • Support the development and updating of work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent production practices.
  • Conduct time studies and develop routings as needed to establish standard work times and improve production planning.
Documentation And Quality Assurance
  • Help maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of manufacturing processes, including work instructions and process flow diagrams.
  • Support quality assurance efforts by monitoring production processes and participating in root cause analysis for any defects or issues.
Project Assistance
  • Contributes to the execution of engineering projects, including process validations, capacity analysis, and production trials under the direction of senior engineers.
  • Assist in coordinating project tasks, preparing technical reports, and documenting project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the implementation of new manufacturing technologies and process changes.
Continuous Improvement Participation
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing process efficiency, reducing waste, and improving overall production outcomes.
  • Collect and analyze data on production performance to help identify areas for improvement.
  • Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing, six-sigma, and TOC principles and other improvement methodologies.
Learning And Development
  • Work closely with engineers to gain hands‑on experience in manufacturing engineering, including exposure to process design, optimization, and quality control.
  • Assist in the creation of training programs for operators and design engineers on process curriculum.
Qualifications
  • Technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • 0-2 years of experience in manufacturing engineering
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 standards and safety protocols
  • Willingness to learn and apply new skills in a manufacturing setting

[Compensation Range: $25-27.50 CAD]
