Verathon believes that People are the Source of our Strength! The Manufacturing Engineer works closely with the Manufacturing Engineering Team and is responsible for providing technical support to the Production, Quality Assurance and Product Development Engineering teams.

This position requires close communication and coordinated activities between all three departments, providing feedback to improve the product design and manufacturing processes to reduce quality defects and costs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • EIT required; P.Eng preferred from EGBC.
  • 5+ years' experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Application of Lean and Six Sigma manufacturing principles.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and processes.
  • Experience with automation, robotics and PLC programming is a benefit.
  • Ability to read procedures and drawings; strong problem solving.
  • Team oriented, analytical, and well organized.

Responsibilities

  • Manage manufacturing processes and improvements in an Electro-Mechanical factory.
  • Collaborate with production, product development engineering and quality teams.
  • Create and execute IQ/OQ/PQ, FMEA for equipment, processes, and designs.
  • Review work instructions, ATPs, travelers and internal docs.
  • Analyze layout, workflow, and labor utilization to improve efficiency.
  • Develop automated or semi-automated processes to enhance reliability.
  • Design, fabricate, and implement production tooling and test equipment.
  • Support new product development handoff from R&D to production.
  • Review designs for manufacturability and cost optimization.
  • Coordinate prototypes, engineering builds, and validations.
  • Investigate rejects and failures; report design/process issues.
  • Perform CAPA activities and tolerance analysis.

The Manufacturing Engineer works closely with the Manufacturing Engineering Team and is responsible for providing technical support to the Production, Quality Assurance and Product Development Engineering teams. This position requires close communication and coordinated activities between all three departments, providing feedback to improve the product design and manufacturing processes to reduce quality defects and costs.

Responsibilities
  • Manage manufacturing processes and improvements in an Electro-Mechanical factory
  • Work effectively with production team, product development engineering team and quality team to provide support and resolve process and technical issues
  • Create and execute verification and validation (IQ, OQ, PQ, FMEA), of product equipment, processes, and designs Review and update work instructions, ATP's, travelers and other internal documentation
  • Analyze layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization to maximize efficiency
  • Develop automated or semi-automated processes to improve efficiency and reliability
  • Design, manufacture, and implement production tooling, jigs, dies and test equipment
  • Participate on core team for new product development and hand off from R&D to production
  • Review new designs and provide Design for Manufacturing input to Design Engineering
  • Review existing product designs and recommend changes to optimize product quality, minimize cost and ensure designs conform to production capabilities
  • Coordinate production of prototypes, engineering builds, and process & product validations
  • Track, document, investigate and analyze rejects and failures in production or customer returns and report design and process issues
  • Perform product Failure Investigations and other CAPA related activities
  • Perform tolerance analysis on mechanical and electrical assemblies
  • Meet annual productivity improvement goals
  • Ensure consistent professional communications with all VMCA team members
  • Support VMCA's Quality Management System that establishes and maintains effective quality assurance processes and compliance to the International Standards: ISO13485, Canadian Medical Device Regulations (CMDR, SOR 98-292), FDA Quality System Regulations (QSR, 21 CFR Part 820) and the Medical Device Directive (MDD93/42/EEC).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • EIT Required, P.Eng preferred from EGBC
  • 5+ years' experience
  • Application of Lean and 6sigma Manufacturing principles
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of manufacturing methods and processes
  • Experience with automation, robotics and PLC programming a benefit
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical design procedures and testing methodologies
  • Analytical approach to problem solving
  • Experience and aptitude in Design of Experiments, ability to find root cause and correct problems effectively
  • Excellent analytical and judgment skills on tolerance issues
  • Hands-on laboratory or experimental experience
  • The ability to read and interpret procedures and drawings
  • Strong technical, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well in cross-functional teams
  • The ability to be dynamic and creative in identifying issues, their resolutions and in the execution of the resolutions
  • The ability to remain open to new ideas and to maintain a positive attitude with a focus on quality

Salary range - $92,430.00 - $116,946.00 (Compensation will vary based on skills, experience and location; it is not typical to be hired at or above the top of the salary range).

Full-time employees who are not on a commission plan are eligible for Verathon's annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance.
