About Porter Engineered Systems

We manufacture automotive parts for OEM and Tier 1 clients. We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for our Windsor, ON plant located at 6500 Cantelon Dr.

Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer will design and implement manufacturing processes to meet production goals, collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Process Design and Implementation : Develop and improve manufacturing methods considering product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, and quality standards.
• Automation : Design and implement automation solutions to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Cost Reduction and Efficiency : Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
• Quality Assurance : Collaborate with QA to ensure processes meet standards and specifications.
• Equipment Selection and Maintenance : Make decisions on new equipment purchases and oversee maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Continuous Improvement : Apply lean and Six Sigma principles to eliminate waste and variability.
• Documentation and Compliance : Maintain process documentation and ensure safety and environmental compliance.
• Collaboration and Support : Work with product development and provide technical support and training to staff.

Reporting Structure

Reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

KPIs

• Scrap Rate
• Overall Equipment Effectiveness
• Cycle Time
• Number of Improvement Projects
• Annual Cost Savings

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of shop floor manufacturing experience, preferably in automotive.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and technology.
• Experience with CAD and manufacturing layouts.
• Knowledge of lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to travel and support operations at other sites or evaluate new technologies.
• Availability outside regular hours for urgent issues or project deadlines.
