Job summary

Magna International in Etobicoke, Ontario, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to champion continuous improvement in welding, CNC, hydroforming, and stamping for steel and aluminum engine cradles. You will lead design, build, and development of assembly processes and tooling, manage launches and engineering changes.

The role requires 5+ years in automotive manufacturing, CAD proficiency (AutoCAD, NX, Catia, SolidWorks), and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
• Minimum five years of automotive assembly manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings.
• Experience with CAD tools: AutoCAD, NX, Catia, SolidWorks.
• Experience in project management and cost/quote development is an asset.
• Knowledge of FMEA, APQP and DOE.
• Knowledge of MIG welding aluminum and galvanized steel an asset.
• Experience with stamping, hydroforming, E-coat and CNC machining is an asset.
• Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills; teamwork.
• Willingness to work overtime to meet customer needs.

• Develop 2D AutoCAD layouts for factory planning.
• Use PLC programming to configure and optimize automated equipment.

Champion the design, build, and development of assembly processes and tooling required. Manage launch activities, engineering changes, and VAVE activities. Support quality fast response meetings and trouble shoot production issues on the line. Be able to update and create PFMEA’s, process flows, work instructions and understand the product GD&T. Salary Range: $80, 000 to $100,000Minimum Requirements • Engineering Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering • Minimum Five (5) years related experience within an automotive assembly or similar manufacturing industry • Able to read and interpret CAD drawings, experience with AutoCAD • Experience with CAD tools (AutoCAD, NX, Catia, Solidworks) is required. • Experience in project management and cost/quote development is an asset. • Familiarity with FMEA, APQP, and DOE • Knowledge of MIG welding aluminum and galvanized steel an asset • Knowledge of stamping, hydroforming, E-coat and CNC machining an asset • Good organizational, verbal and written communication skills • Appropriate presentation skills for customer interface • Ability to work in a fast paced environment • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs Job Specific Responsibilities • Handles medium size projects from inception to completion (timing, concept, feasibility, design, construction, try-out, launch, final buy-off (PPAP and run at rate), prototype programs, and engineering changes) with moderate follow-up by leadership. • Conducts appropriate Manpower efficiency studies – through time and motion studies or standard data. Line balancing manpower, machine charts and analysis • Prepare reports, charts and other documentation required for engineering records and projects • Works with all departments and customers to design solutions that improve production efficiency, ergonomics, safety and maintenance related issues • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility • Assists in developing material handling logistics (i.e. - Aisle layout, bin placement, dunnage assists, etc.) • Follow-up of new tooling programs to contain costs, timing and quality requirements through all phases including prototype, die construction, tool prove out, buy-off and program launch. • Supervises equipment relocation and installation to Deco Automotive • Assists in resolving quality concerns and identifying root cause. • Reviews, co-ordinates and implements customer initiated approved engineering changes, (administrative to complete re-designs). • Develop and update 2D AutoCAD layouts to support factory planning and project execution. • Utilize PLC programming skills to configure, modify, and optimize automated equipment controls and processes. • Supports our new business quoting process • Adheres to Deco Automotive’s Core Values: Integrity, Respect, Trust, Honesty, Fairness and Loyalty • Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies as Outlined in the Team Member Handbook, Quality and Environmental Programs (i.e. TS16949, ISO14001) • Understands, promotes and lives by Magna’s philosophies and the Employee’s Charter • Performs other duties as required General Responsibilities • Work with minimal supervision. • Ensure that he/she is in full compliance of the laws of Ontario and/or any other location while representing Deco Automotive during the use of any Deco Automotive provided equipment. • Work within the guidelines of the Deco Associate Handbook. • Commitment to continuous improvement and workplace safety. • IATF16949 and ISO14001 awareness and adherence. • Accepts personal responsibility to plan and conduct their work safely in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act as well as company policies and guidelines. • Responsible for good housekeeping in your area.
