Come Join Us

Over the last 40 years, Gastops has built a robust business which is recognized worldwide for its innovative contributions to equipment health management in the aviation, energy, marine, industrial and transportation industries. Gastops’ products and services add value throughout the life cycle of complex critical equipment from the design stage through to in-service operations and support. We design, manufacture, and support advanced equipment sensing and analysis products, including on-line oil debris sensors, torque measurement sensors, turbine blade health sensors, and at-line oil analysis systems.

Based in Ottawa, Ontario, the Manufacturing Engineer will report to the Manufacturing Engineer Manager and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus on improvement of manufacturing processes.

What You’ll Do:

The Manufacturing Engineer will be part of our Manufacturing Engineering team with the primary focus of maintaining the manufacturing processes and associated changes.

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with a background in electronics manufacturing and a degree in electrical or electronics engineering. The ideal candidate will optimize manufacturing processes, enhance production efficiency, and ensure high-quality standards for aerospace assemblies and components. This role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing best practices, lean principles, and process validation for aerospace electronic systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • New Product Introduction (NPI) & Process Optimization:
  • Collaborate with design, quality, and production teams to assess and approve new designs for electronics, and electrical assemblies.
  • Ensure manufacturing feasibility is considered in new product designs for a smooth transition from design to production.
  • Lead the development and implementation of optimized manufacturing processes to improve cost, efficiency, and quality.
  • Process Improvement & Validation:
  • Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with aerospace standards, IPC, AS9100, and other applicable regulations.
  • Perform thorough validation and qualification of manufacturing processes using SPC (Statistical Process Control) and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, optimize cycle times, and enhance efficiency.
  • Analyze manufacturing and test data to identify trends and drive process improvements.
  • Technical Support & Problem-Solving:
  • Work closely with other departments to enhance manufacturability of existing and new products while balancing innovation with practical production needs.
  • Provide technical support to production teams, troubleshooting and resolving complex manufacturing and quality issues.
  • Use root cause analysis (RCA) and problem-solving techniques (such as 8D, DMAIC) to resolve quality concerns.
  • Documentation & Compliance:
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and assembly procedures for manufacturing electronic products.
  • Ensure first-time part production follows proper manufacturing processes and meets compliance requirements.
  • Training & Capital Planning:
  • Train and certify manufacturing and test operators on best practices, work instructions, and technical processes.
  • Assist in developing annual plans for equipment, capital investment, and yield improvement initiatives.
  • Production Support

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in aerospace electronics, avionics, or electrical component production.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process optimization techniques.
  • Experience with SPC, DOE (Design of Experiments), and quality control methodologies.
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610, AS9100, or other industry standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience with electronics testing and troubleshooting

What You Should Bring:

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Science or Engineering or other related program with at least 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in a related role. Additionally, you should have:

  • High motivation with results-oriented focus
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Eligible to obtain a Security Clearance (NATO Level Clearance)
