Job description

We are currently looking for a Machinist to join our team located in the Kitchener-Waterloo area.

Job Description

1. Produce high quality components within tight tolerances, using manual Lathe(s) and Mill(s).
2. Must be proficient with standard tool room equipment such as drill presses, mills, grinders, lathes, band saws, micrometers, and calipers.
3. Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
4. In progress and final inspection of parts using precision measuring tools.
5. Experience with and ability to calibrate measuring devices, such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, depth gauges, etc.
6. Buffing, grinding, and deburring as required.
7. Material handling and raw material storage/organization required.
8. General maintenance when required, e.g., coolant/fluid levels, tooling supplies, etc.
9. Troubleshooting and repairing of machines, tools, and parts.
10. Some heavy lifting required at times.
11. Effectively communicate and assist our skilled tradespeople in the field while gaining experience in the different trades (Welding, Fabrication, Millwrighting, etc.).
12. Verify, document, and report deviations with project managers.
13. Welding experience an asset.
14. Maintain an organized and safe work area, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
15. Must be able to work with others and independently.
16. Must be able to follow instructions with minimal supervision.
17. Manufacturing job shop experience an asset.
18. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
19. Good communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
20. Attention to detail and willingness to learn new skills.

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:

1. 5-10+ years of experience in a manual machine shop.
2. Red Seal or certification is an asset.
3. Ability to adapt to co-workers and work environment; be flexible.
4. Able to always adhere to safety procedures and machine guarding.
5. Good mechanical aptitude, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
6. Valid driver’s license.
