CNC (computer numerical control) machinist

Overview

Languages: English

Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years

Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years

Work location: On site (no remote work)

Responsibilities

1. Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts
2. Measure and lay out work pieces in preparation for assembly
3. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables
4. Repair machine tools and parts
5. Set up and adjust production machineries/tools
6. Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance
7. Maintain, repair, and calibrate precision measuring instruments
8. Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports
9. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers)
10. Set up and operate conventional and computer-controlled machine tools
11. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications
