Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Analyze eyeglasses or contact lenses by measuring eye curvature, pupillary distance and bridge width.
• Obtain specifications for glasses and contacts from prescriptions.
• Supervise or manage activities of other opticians or student opticians.
• Assist clients in selecting eyeglasses.
• Advise on use and care of contact lenses.
• Arrange for grinding or polishing of lenses; grind and polish lenses.
• Cut and edge lenses and fit into frames.
• Adjust finished eyeglasses to fit the client.

• Obtain specifications for eyeglasses and contact lenses from a prescription prepared by an ophthalmologist or optometrist
• Supervise or manage activities of other opticians or student opticians
• Assist clients in selecting eyeglasses
• Advise on use and care of contact lenses
• Arrange for grinding or polishing of lenses or grind and polish lenses
• Cut and edge lenses and fit lenses into frames
• Adjust finished eyeglasses to fit client
