Job summary

MPI is seeking a CFO for a rapidly growing high-rise residential developer in the Burlington/Hamilton area. The role leads all financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, risk, capital planning, and investor relations, to support growth and profitability.

The ideal candidate has deep experience in construction, real estate development, or related project-based industries, and thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.


Qualifications

  • CPA designation required (CA, CMA, or CGA).
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including 5+ years at a senior leadership or executive level.
  • A strategic focus and proven ability to generate and secure investment.
  • Experience in construction development, real estate, or project based industries is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of development financing, construction billing cycles, and cost to complete forecasting.
  • Proven track record of building financial systems and teams in a growing company.
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and evolving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CEO and executive team to develop long-term financial strategies that align with organisational goals.
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes across all business units.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to guide decision-making on land acquisitions, new developments, partnerships, and capital investments.
  • Drive financial modelling for development proformas, project feasibility, and ROI analysis.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting, cash flow management, payroll, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Build and enhance internal financial controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Implement scalable systems and tools to support company growth.
  • Manage debt financing, banking relationships, and capital structure.
  • Lead fundraising efforts including construction financing, development loans, and equity partnerships.
  • Optimise liquidity and capital allocation across multiple active projects.
  • Oversee all financial, contractual, and regulatory risk management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards, CRA requirements, and provincial regulations.
  • Develop strategies for cost control, margin improvement, and risk mitigation.
  • Lead and mentor a growing finance and accounting team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and operations to ensure alignment between financial and project performance.

A rapidly Growing High-Rise Residential Developer based in the Burlington/Hamilton area is looking for their new Managerial and highly strategic focused CFO to assist with continued company growth.

Our client is a rapidly growing and highly respected Mid & High-rise Residential Developer with development projects across the GTA and further West.

Position Overview

The CFO will provide strategic financial leadership to support the company's continued growth, profitability, and operational excellence. This role will oversee all financial functions including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, risk management, capital planning, and investor relations while building strong financial systems and structures that support a scaling construction development environment.

The ideal candidate has deep experience in construction, real estate development, or related project-based industries, and thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning
  • Partner with the CEO and executive team to develop long-term financial strategies that align with organisational goals.
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes across all business units.

Job Offer
  • A base salary of up to $300,000
  • Overall package up to around $350,000
  • A tailored benefits/bonus package based on your requirements and set targets and objectives
