Job description

Join a Challenger

Being a traditional bank just isn’t our thing. We are big believers in innovating the banking experience because we believe Canadians deserve better options, and we challenge ourselves and our teams to creatively transform what’s possible in banking. Our team is made up of inquisitive and agile minds that find smarter ways of doing things. If you’re not afraid of taking on big challenges and redefining the future, you belong with us. You’ll get to work with people who will encourage you to reach new heights. We like to keep things fun, ask questions and learn together.

We are a big (and growing!) family. Overall we serve more than 670,000 people across Canada through Equitable Bank, Canada's Challenger Bank, and have been around for more than 50 years. Equitable Bank's wholly-owned subsidiary, Concentra Bank, supports credit unions across Canada that serve more than six million members. Together we have over $125 billion in combined assets under management and administration, with a clear mandate to drive change in Canadian banking to enrich people's lives. Our customers have named our EQ Bank digital platform (eqbank.ca) one of the top banks in Canada on the Forbes World's Best Banks list since 2021.

The Work

Reporting to the Director Marketing, Growth Businesses and working alongside business unit stakeholders, Marketing (creative, product marketing managers) and Tech, the Senior Manager is responsible for establishing the strategy and roadmap for EquitableBank.ca, while managing a pod dedicated to the execution of the defined roadmap.

Our website is a critical place – it's where mortgage brokers learn about our products and access resources, and where consumers interact with our brand, helping to build trust and credibility. It’s also a critical lead generation and conversion tool for our only direct-to-consumer lending business (reverse mortgages). This role is critical in establishing and managing our strategy to optimize impact, drive performance and leads to help Equitable Bank achieve its growth ambitions.

The Core Responsibilities!
  • Build and manage the product roadmap for EquitableBank.ca leveraging a deep understanding of our users, brand, & products to improve on-site experience & increase conversion to support Equitable Bank’s growth ambitions.
  • Apply a particular emphasis to our only direct-to-consumer lending business (reverse mortgage), building tools and testing hypotheses to improve lead capture and conversion.
  • In partnership with the business units, marketing & analytics, define goals and KPIs to measure success of the roadmap. Report on metrics that ladder up to overall OKRs.
  • Partner with performance marketing team & analytics in the creation and maintenance of dashboards and tracking tools to monitor performance including overall effectiveness of design/feature enhancements & tests, make recommendations and share insights with key stakeholders.
  • Working with legal, compliance, fraud, etc. to ensure protection of Equitable, and especially our customers.
  • Assist with initiatives & website tests. Manage the backlog including prioritization for greatest impact, grooming, writing requirements and generally keeping the design & development team unblocked and running efficiently.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve organic search rankings, drive search traffic, and conversions using SEO or partnerships with external sources of user traffic.
  • Execute keyword research and on-page optimization with respect to headings, page titles, descriptions, canonicals, URLs, internal link structures, etc.
Let's Talk About You!
  • 5-8 years demonstrated track record of developing, and building successful strategy, roadmaps and successful digital products.
  • 3+ years managing a dedicated pod including a full suite of resources including interfacing with tech, developers, designers and product marketers.
  • Strong problem solver with ability to influence and inspire a cross-functional team to reach ambitious goals.
  • Post-Secondary Degree in Commerce, Management, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, etc. MBA or other graduate degree a plus.
  • Familiarity and expertise with consumer technology, both common and leading.
  • Familiarity with user experience & design principles, specifically for digital interactions.
  • Proven strategic leadership experience and ability to initiate and execute projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at different levels in the organization.
  • You have a curious and experimental mindset to drive innovation amidst uncertainty.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
