Job summary

SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team as Manager, Training & Development. You will provide leadership for planning, development and delivery of corporate training and development strategies across technical, trades, construction and customer service functions.

The role oversees learning resources, safety/compliance training, and performance metrics, collaborating with internal and external partners to align with industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, business, human resources, organizational development or a related field.
  • Certificate in Adult Education would be considered an asset.
  • Six (6) years of related experience in training and development, workforce development, technical training, competency management or a related business function.
  • Experience leading people, programs or cross-functional initiatives, preferably in a utility, energy, construction, trades or regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Guide team of learning professionals in the design and delivery of training programs and execution of the learning strategy.
  • Lead enterprise-wide technical training initiatives (trades, construction and customer service) that ensure workforce capability and performance.
  • Plan and oversee corporate training resources, including facilities, equipment, and learning technologies, to support continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the corporate Learning Management System (Workday), ensuring regulatory compliance and an effective user experience.
  • Collaborate with Safety and operational leadership to develop and implement corporate safety and compliance training programs that meet internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and monitor corporate compliance targets for training and competency programs and enable leadership teams to achieve sustained performance.
  • Oversee and lead corporate Competency Assessment Plan program.
  • Oversee the recruitment, development and performance of a team of internal and external instructors.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify learning needs and provide solutions for skills gaps.
  • Establish metrics and reporting frameworks to evaluate training effectiveness.
  • Present training outcomes and strategic recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong relationships with industry partners to deliver programming aligned with industry best practice.

Position Details

Non-union. This position is permanent full time.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain strong relationships with industry partners, such as Mechanical Contractor Association of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade, to deliver programming aligned with industry best practice.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in education, business, human resources, organizational development or a related field.
  • Certificate in Adult Education, or similar education, would be considered an asset.
  • Six (6) years of related experience in training and development, workforce development, technical training, competency management or a related business function.
  • Experience leading people, programs or cross-functional initiatives, preferably in a utility, energy, construction, trades or regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of adult learning and education principles, including needs assessment, program design, development, implementation, competency assessment, regulatory compliance, and learning evaluation.
  • Experience with corporate Learning Management Systems would be considered an asset.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, facilitation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered

Additional information Travel away from bid headquarters may be required on occasion.

A Class 5 Driver’s license is required.

Closing Date August 27, 2026 Salary Range $94,570 - $135,617 #LI-POST
