HEABC leads and supports the strategic planning related to human resources and labour relations on behalf of British Columbia's publicly funded health employers. HEABC is responsible for negotiating provincial agreements for 179,000 unionized health care employees including nurses, physician residents, ambulance paramedics, health science professionals, and more. OPPORTUNITY :

HEABC has an opening for a Manager, Technology and Support. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Manager, Technology and Support is responsible for the cloud infrastructure, on-premises infrastructure, platforms, disaster recovery, and IMIT service desk and serves as an important part of the IMIT leadership team (ITLT). The Manager, Technology and Support takes a holistic view of how all parts of HEABC's IT systems operate and uses that information to work with the CIO and ITLT to create a vision and set goals for long term planning, budget and future work. The Manager, Technology and Support ensures that all infrastructure and platforms, whether cloud, on-premises, or hosted elsewhere, are properly operational, updated and maintained according to industry standards, including patching. The Manager, Technology and Support ensures that the IMIT Service Desk is running efficiently and supports the organization.

Responsibilities Include :

  • Member of the IMIT Leadership Team (ITLT).
  • Responsible for the installation, administration, and maintenance, including patching, of on-premises and cloud infrastructure and platforms, including servers, security, storage, networking, backup systems, database servers and databases.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of on-premises and hosted data centers, including security, power, cooling, and racking.
  • Responsible for maintaining documentation on all infrastructure and platforms, including technical and architectural documentation and associated processes.
  • Responsible for disaster recovery (DR), including planning, administration and testing of DR systems.
  • Manages the team responsible for internal IT support and administration, including process development and maintenance, monitoring and reporting.

Required Education, Experience and Skills :

Successful completion of a university degree in computer systems or a related field. Seven (7) years of professional experience managing cloud and on-premises infrastructure and platforms and Service Desk, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 7+ years' experience directly managing teams
  • Working knowledge of :

o Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and platforms

o Microsoft 365 applications

o Development and application platforms

o On-premises servers and networks

  • Sound understanding of the underlying principles and concepts associated with information technology, enterprise architecture and strategic IT planning
  • Demonstrated ability to remain current with new technologies and new versions of existing technologies and the ability to lead teams in analysis, troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical problems independently
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work and to resolve problems and communicate effectively both verbally and written
  • Ability to teach and effectively communicate technical concepts to others

Salary Range : $88,990 to $127,923

Typical Hiring Range : $88,990 to $111,237

In determining salary, HEABC considers many factors including the successful candidate's skillset and experience as well as internal equity. The final salary offer will be at HEABC's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
