Job description

An opportunity to work at a fast-growing renewable energy and utility company and join a dynamic team driven to attract top talent across North America. This position supports the East Region senior tax manager and is responsible for the existing tax function in the Liberty East Region, including tax provision, tax compliance, planning, forecast, and rate case support. This key position in the tax department ensures that the Liberty East Region entities meet their external and internal tax reporting, regulatory, and compliance requirements. Additionally, this role provides acquisition support to the East Region Senior Tax Manager.

Accountabilities
  1. Prepare U.S. GAAP quarterly and annual income tax provisions for the Liberty East group to support public reporting and standalone financial statement requirements.
  2. Ensure appropriate internal controls are executed.
  3. Maintain regulatory tax accounts and manage amortization of excess deferred income tax.
  4. Work with third-party tax preparers to ensure Liberty East group income tax returns are filed accurately and timely.
  5. Support the regulatory filing and forecasting process to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  6. Assist in long-term tax forecasting and annual tax expense budgeting.
  7. Ensure local income tax provisions are recorded timely and accurately.
  8. Coordinate with financial statement and government tax auditors to facilitate smooth audit processes.
  9. Provide technical tax support for sales and property tax matters.
  10. Assist in tax research and planning assignments.
  11. Collaborate with the ERP team on tax-related matters to ensure smooth implementation of Power Plan and Power Tax systems in East Region entities.
  12. React productively to change and undertake other assigned tasks.
  13. Respond to ad hoc tax queries and advise internal parties on tax implications of transactions.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in U.S. corporate income tax, with a professional accounting designation (CPA preferred).
  • Exposure to regulated utility income tax matters is preferred.
  • Degree in tax, accounting, finance, or business.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing and managing multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
  • Attention to detail and strong hands-on skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office; SAP or similar systems; Power Plan and Power Tax experience preferred; Hyperion Smart-View preferred.
