Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or a related discipline.
  • 7–8 years of progressively senior experience in sustainability reporting, environmental management, health and safety management systems or related work.
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks and standards (ISSB/IFRS S1 & S2, ESRS, TNFD, GRI, SASB, CDP).
  • Experience in supporting audit engagements, management systems and control processes.
  • Climate disclosures and GHG reporting experience is an asset.
  • ISO certifications familiarity is an asset.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across functions.

Reporting to the Director, Insurance and Sustainability Reporting, you'll lead Canfor's sustainability reporting program, including the annual Sustainability Report, key disclosures, and readiness for emerging frameworks such as ESRS, ISSB/IFRS S1 and S2, TNFD, and other evolving requirements. You'll help strengthen reporting processes, data governance, and controls while contributing to the advancement of Canfor's sustainability strategy.

This role is ideal for a collaborative relationship-builder who enjoys working across diverse teams. You'll partner with stakeholders across forestry, climate change and energy, environment, finance, operations, legal, communications, and information technology to drive progress, influence action, and support transparent, impactful sustainability reporting.

A day in the life of the Manager, Sustainability Reporting Includes:
Sustainability Reporting & Disclosure
  • Lead the annual sustainability reporting process from planning through publication, including project management, data collection, coordination of reviews with stakeholders across our global operations.
  • Lead stakeholder materiality assessments and benchmarking research and present recommendations on areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate responses to sustainability surveys, customer requests, rating agencies and investor inquiries.
  • Develop roadmap to address gaps in preparation for emerging disclosure requirements.
  • Assess implications of sustainability reporting standards, regulations and develop compliance approach.
  • Assess and disclose our nature-related risks and opportunities and disclosures related to biodiversity, forest stewardship, sustainable fibre sourcing and natural capital.
  • Support implementation of sustainability strategy.
  • Implement and improve data governance and disclosure controls related to standard operating procedures, documentation practices and management review processes.
  • Transform our sustainability data systems, workflows and reporting tools to further strengthen data quality and leverage automation.
  • Support integration of sustainability topics into enterprise risk management through supplier engagement, climate scenario analysis and nature-related risk assessments.
  • Partner with Finance and Corporate Reporting teams to strengthen integration between sustainability disclosures, financial reporting, controls, and enterprise reporting processes.
Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership Support
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert on sustainability reporting, disclosure frameworks, assurance readiness and nature-related reporting.
  • Prepare briefing materials, presentations and recommendations for senior leadership and governance committees.
  • Build strong relationships with internal subject matter experts and external stakeholders to support accurate and decision‑useful disclosures.
For this role, you’ll come equipped with:
  • Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7- 8 years of progressively senior experience in sustainability reporting, environmental management, health and safety management systems or related work. People leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks and standards, including ISSB/IFRS S1 and S2, ESRS, TNFD, GRI, SASB, CDP, and emerging regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in supporting audit engagements, management systems and control processes.
  • Experience in climate change disclosures and GHG reporting (GHG Protocol, SBTi), nature‑related reporting, biodiversity disclosures, natural capital accounting or forest certifications is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, SFI, FSC or PEFC forest management and chain of custody certifications is considered an asset.
  • Strong project management, analytical, problem‑solving, data management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to design practical processes, controls, workflows, and documentation standards that improve reporting quality and accountability.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex topics for different audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality, consistency and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across functions without direct authority.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI and PowerPoint.

The salary range for this position is: $104,500.00-$149,500.00
