Coast Mountain College (CMTN) invites applications for a full-time continuing Manager, Student Housing and Campus Community at the Terrace campus. The role reports to the Director, Student Health Services and leads the Student Housing program to provide safe, inclusive, and student-centered services.

Salary is $119,413.02 annually with a comprehensive benefits package. The position also oversees the Fitness Centre and serves as Terrace Campus Manager, collaborating with Indigenous communities

Qualifications

Reporting to the Director, Student Health Services, the Manager, Student Housing and Campus Community provides strategic and operational leadership for CMTN’s Student Housing program. The Manager ensures the effective operation of housing services and fosters a safe, inclusive, culturally responsive, and supportive environment that promotes student wellbeing, belonging, and success. The Manager works collaboratively across the College and with community partners to support students and advance the goals of the Housing program.

The position also provides operational oversight of the CMTN Fitness Centre and serves as the Terrace Campus Manager, supporting initiatives that strengthen employee connection, collaboration, morale, and campus community.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for Student Housing, ensuring effective, efficient, student-centred service delivery.
• Oversee all aspects of the delivery of housing services.
• Foster a safe, respectful, inclusive, culturally responsive, and supportive housing community that balances student wellbeing and belonging with clear expectations and appropriate conduct standards.
• Develop, implement, and maintain standardized housing policies, procedures, standards, and operational guidelines, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and institutional requirements.
• Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to support students and connect them with health, wellness, academic, financial, social, community, and housing resources.
• Lead, supervise, coach, and develop Housing staff; establish service standards, work priorities, performance expectations, and appropriate operational coverage.
• Manage the Housing operating budget and support sound financial and operational decision-making, including identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and financial sustainability.
• Monitor housing demand, occupancy, student needs, and program data; identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, service delivery, and operational efficiency, and implement innovative approaches and best practices.
• Build and maintain respectful relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations, government, community organizations, housing providers, and other partners to support student housing needs.
• Provide leadership and operational oversight for the Fitness Centre and serve as the Terrace Campus Manager, supporting employee engagement, connection, and campus community initiatives.
• Represent the College and department on relevant internal and external committees, professional associations, networks, and community initiatives.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Skills:

• Three to five years of progressively responsible management experience, preferably in student housing, post-secondary education, student services, hospitality, housing, or a related environment.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience, including the ability to build, support, coach, and develop effective teams in a unionized environment.
• Demonstrated financial acumen and experience with budget management, financial administration, operational planning, and sound resource allocation decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead change, improve processes, and develop innovative solutions to operational challenges.
• Knowledge of or experience working with student housing, residential services, student conduct, risk management, or related operations is an asset.
• Excellent written, verbal, and cross-cultural communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships in challenging circumstances.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion, and decision-making when managing complex or sensitive situations.
• Demonstrated commitment to creating safe, inclusive, culturally responsive, and supportive environments for students and employees.
• Demonstrated ability to respond calmly and effectively to sensitive, high-risk, or crisis situations.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with Indigenous communities, government, community organizations, and other internal and external partners.
• First Aid/CPR, Mental Health First Aid, Overdose Awareness and Response Training, and ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training), or equivalent, are required. Candidates who do not hold these certifications at the time of hire must obtain them within three months of commencing the position.
• Valid BC Driver’s License
• Flexible hours required as some evening and weekend work may be necessary.
