Job summary

Canadian Pacific Railway in Scarborough, Ontario seeks a Manager Signals & Communications Operations to lead field teams delivering safe, reliable rail systems across Eastern Ontario.

The role oversees maintenance, outage response, resource planning, compliance and continuous improvement while partnering with Operations and Engineering to keep trains moving safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of railroad industry experience in Signals & Communications.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and respond to after hours emergencies.
  • Ability to meet all safety critical medical and drug testing requirements as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Signals and Communications field teams to deliver safe reliable operations.
  • Plan, prioritize and execute maintenance inspections and corrective work.
  • Monitor system performance and resolve outages to minimize service disruption.
  • Coordinate track access and work windows with Operations and Engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards safety rules and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage contractors, materials and budgets to meet cost and timeline targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and best practice adoption.
  • Develop schedules, coach talent, and build a high performance safety culture.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As a Manager, Signals & Communications Operations in Scarborough, ON, you’ll lead field teams supporting the safety, reliability, and performance of critical rail systems across Eastern Ontario. In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll oversee daily operations, maintenance and outage response, resource planning, compliance, and continuous improvement while working closely with Operations, Engineering, and frontline teams to keep trains moving safely and efficiently.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
