Job summary

Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) seeks a Manager / Senior Manager, Portfolio Management to maintain the loan portfolio by processing service requests and annual reviews across the loan life cycle, analyzing complex requests and proposing solutions aligned with bank policies.

You will monitor profitability during annual reviews, assess client risk, and collaborate with Credit and business centres to optimize agreements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration.
  • Three to five years’ experience as an account manager in the banking sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of banking products, services, policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial structures.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems pro-actively with good judgment.
  • Good time management skills and ability to set priorities to meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Follow up on outstanding issues in the files per audit policies and ensure information is accurate and complete.
  • Validate portfolio profitability during annual reviews and identify opportunities (financing or consulting).
  • Review financial statements and evaluate the risk rating.
  • Address potential risks and propose proactive solutions to restructure agreements, minimize risk and mitigate losses in collaboration with Credit and business centres.
  • Authorize, decline, or recommend services within parameters and ensure due diligence for loan amendments and service requests.
  • Maintain relationships with business centre personnel to foster teamwork and shared objectives.
  • Coach, mentor and share experience with team members.
  • Stay abreast of economic trends and policy changes affecting clients and the Bank.
