Job summary

Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) is seeking a Senior Manager, Underwriting to lead high-quality loan proposals in the Canadian market. The role requires deep credit analysis, due diligence, and collaboration with AM/BCM/CRM partners to structure deals in line with BDC policies.

You will mentor team members and maintain strong relationships with business centres while navigating evolving credit regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, business administration or accounting is required.
  • Accounting designation or CFA is an asset.
  • 3–5+ years of relevant corporate or syndicated financing experience.
  • Experience in loan writing with strong credit analysis.
  • Thorough knowledge of credit policies and procedures.
  • Ability to develop win–win solutions and negotiate with internal partners.
  • Strong communication and client service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite high-quality loan proposals for up to and beyond $1M.
  • Perform due diligence and present thorough credit analyses.
  • Develop terms, pricing, conditions, and covenants with internal partners.
  • Review loan packages and negotiate structures to meet policy standards.
  • Coach and mentor junior staff; maintain strong internal relationships.
