Job summary

TC Energy is seeking an experienced Senior Safety leader to drive frontline safety programs across Canada, the United States and Mexico. You will oversee occupational safety, contractor safety management, and continuous improvement with field leaders to embed a consistent safety culture.

You’ll lead a skilled team, set enterprise safety direction, align training and performance, and engage with regulators and industry groups to advance safety objectives. Hybrid work, travel ~20% required.

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in safety management.
• Post-secondary degree in a safety related discipline (process safety engineering, occupational safety, etc.).
• Minimum of 3 years leadership experience.
• Certification or accreditation in safety (CRSP, CSP, etc.) or recognized equivalent.
• Hold a valid driver's license and be willing to travel (min 20%).
• Excellent technical and report writing abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to challenge status-quo.
• Passport holder with ability to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Safety subject matter experts to meet enterprise objectives.
• Drive enterprise safety requirements, strategy and technical expertise.
• Collaborate with operations and safety stakeholders on performance and learning.
• Set direction and standards for occupational safety programs.
• Implement contractor safety management model including prequalification and onboarding.
• Drive alignment of training, change management and safety communications.
• Manage team performance and budget within TC Energy planning cycles.
• Lead safety assessments, initiatives and communities of practice.
• Interface with regulators, contractors and industry groups.
• Oversee investigations and root cause actions; monitor indicators and actions.
