  • Manager, Retail Store Development - Global

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Reporting to the Director of Retail, the Manager, Retail Store Development - Global, plays a pivotal role in DECIEM's strategic planning and execution of new store openings, temporary stores, renovations, and capital improvement projects worldwide. This role oversees end-to-end project management processes, from site selection to construction oversight, ensuring alignment with DECIEM's design standards and business objectives.

This hybrid role will be based out of our Toronto head office.

WHAT YOU’D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE

  • Own end-to-end project management and execution processes for all global retail assets - from site site selection, to consultant coordination, to project scoping, to budget and schedule management, to construction oversight, to project resource allocation… in collaboration with global, cross-functional internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide ongoing reports on project status updates, milestones and risks to all relevant stakeholders and senior leaders, while proactively anticipating and creating mitigation plans for potential project roadblocks.
  • Chair all consultant coordination meetings to facilitate effective communication and alignment of DECIEM’s design and branding guidelines and standards
  • Ensure that cross-functional teams adhere to project milestones and schedules, while identifying potential bottlenecks, and
  • Collaborate with cross functional departments including Retail Operations, Product Marketing, Retail Design, Visual Merchandising, Legal, Finance and Facilities to coordinate all store development activities and ensure seamless integration with business operations
  • Partner with internal and external teams to forecast OPEX / CAPEX budgets by market location and fiscal year.
  • Oversee project budgets and financial forecasts, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high quality standards
  • Manage the global sourcing and procurement process for services, materials, and FF&E (furniture, fixtures and equipment) - negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships to ensure cost- effectiveness and logistical efficiency.
  • In conjunction with external project consultants, conduct and/or coordinate site visits and inspections to align on location validity, verify building code and safety regulation compliance, track construction execution, etc. proactively addressing any issues that may arise
  • Coordinate robust deficiency / punch list walkthrough with onsite GC to ensure that project is executed as per design and branding intent, and according to DECIEM’s established quality standards, prior to handover to Retail Operations department

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • Minimum 5-7 years experience with global planning, design and construction of premium retail projects
  • Educational background in construction management, facilities management, project management, architecture or related field
  • Previous experience working with local and remote global teams - North American, EMEA, APAC exposure a strong asset
  • Sound understanding of global construction processes, building codes and regulations in retail environments, as well as an ability to read design, architecture, MEP drawings
  • Experience using the following software - AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Ms Project, Microsoft Office, Wrike, Smartsheets, Photoshop a plus
