Manager, Radiation Therapy (RT) Strategic Operations

The Manager, RT Strategic Operations, is a key leadership role within the Radiation Medicine Program. The role provides leadership in managing the department's human and financial resources to support precision medicine and personalized patient care. Responsibilities include assessing program needs, developing operational strategies, leading infrastructure implementation, and managing human resources.

Working closely with the Manager, RT Professional Practice, this role develops and manages strategic plans to support departmental, program, and organizational priorities. It also ensures care requirements are met with appropriate competence, resolving patient care issues as needed.

Duties include:

  • Managing the Radiation Therapy Department’s operations, resources, and quality initiatives.
  • Ensuring adequate resources for continuous care, including off-hours emergency care.
  • Fostering a positive staff environment to enhance patient care and experience.
  • Maintaining liaison with patients, families, clinical professionals, and external agencies to resolve care issues and ensure continuity.
  • Providing cross-coverage for the RT Professional Practice Manager role.

People & Culture Management:

  • Supporting staff engagement, safety, and satisfaction initiatives.
  • Collaborating on recruitment, retention, performance appraisals, and staff development.
  • Promoting a culturally sensitive and diverse work environment.
  • Managing employee relations, documentation, and disciplinary actions as needed.

Planning Responsibilities:

  • Developing and reviewing strategic, operational, and quality improvement plans.
  • Monitoring progress and adjusting strategies accordingly.
  • Ensuring policies and procedures support organizational effectiveness.

Financial Management:

  • Participating in budget development and managing expenditures.
  • Analyzing financial reports and ensuring budget targets are met.
  • Identifying capital needs and cost-saving opportunities.

Corporate Management:

  • Building collaborative relationships within and outside UHN.
  • Representing the department on committees and at conferences.
  • Contributing to organizational initiatives aligned with UHN’s mission.

Research:

  • Participating in research activities to improve clinical practices.
  • Promoting evidence-based practice and disseminating research findings.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Radiation Therapy or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of technical advances and legislation in Radiation Therapy.
  • 6-8 years of practical experience in Radiation Therapy, including 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Current B.C.L.S. certification.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists and registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario.
