Role Overview: The Manager, RT Strategic Operations, provides leadership in managing the Radiation Therapy department’s human and financial resources, supporting precision medicine and personalized patient care. Responsibilities include assessing program needs, developing operational strategies, leading infrastructure implementation, and managing human resources.

Collaborating with the Manager, RT Professional Practice, this role develops and manages strategic plans to support the department and organizational priorities. The manager ensures care quality, resolves patient issues, and supports staff and operational excellence.

Key Duties:

  • Manage the Radiation Therapy Department's operations, human and financial resources, and quality initiatives.
  • Ensure resource availability for continuous patient care, including emergency services.
  • Foster a positive staff environment to support optimal patient care.
  • Coordinate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to resolve care issues.
  • Provide cross-coverage for the RT Professional Practice Manager role.

People & Culture Management:

  • Support staff engagement, safety, and satisfaction initiatives.
  • Lead recruitment, retention, performance appraisals, and staff development.
  • Promote a culturally sensitive, collaborative work environment.
  • Manage employee relations, documentation, and disciplinary actions.

Planning Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review strategic and operational plans aligned with organizational goals.
  • Prepare business plans, monitor progress, and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Implement policies and quality improvement initiatives.

Financial Management:

  • Participate in budget development, monitor expenditures, and analyze variances.
  • Identify capital needs and develop strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Corporate Responsibilities & Research:

  • Build collaborative relationships within and outside UHN.
  • Represent the department on committees and in external forums.
  • Participate in research and promote evidence-based practice.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Radiation Therapy or equivalent.
  • Current knowledge of Radiation Therapy advances and regulations.
  • 7+ years of Radiation Therapy experience, including 2+ years in supervision.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists and registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario.
