Job description

Marshall Canada is seeking a Manager, Purchasing Shared Services to join our team in Moncton, NB. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Purchasing & Supply Chain, this role is responsible and accountable for providing people leadership for the Logistics, Warehousing and Production Facility Material Planning and Supply teams. This role will also Coordinate the activities of these groups to ensure accurate and effective execution of purchases, maximizing production and assembly material and service availability, management and optimization.

Your responsibilities in the role:

Management Activities

  • Collaborate closely with the Planning, Warehousing, Operations, Quality, Project and Engineering departments in Canada and UK to ensure material supply is accurate, in full and on-time.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance to ensure suppliers are paid on time and supply chain costs are accounted sufficiently and accurately.
  • Liaise with the Procurement Team to ensure supply-chain readiness to satisfy project requirements and/or to raise any risks of product/service quality and supplier performance
  • Holds a holistic view of material availability and possible shortages at a Customer Project level to represent the Procurement and Supply-Chain team at Project reviews and updates.
  • Establish functional KPIs in conjunction with MRP planning & stores and use these to report daily to ensure control and communication of risks and issues.
  • Monitor up and downstream KPIs for early identification of concerns and participate in reaching solutions.
  • Formal reporting at shop floor, project and senior leadership levels
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the purchasing activities to support ISO9001 certification, design and implement improvements to processes and practices to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participate in the investigation of equipment, product or material specifications and in the development of proposals for substitutions. Conduct root cause analyses on identified concerns or performance gaps to identify and implement appropriate resolutions.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, standards and regulations in force and participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Foresight to evolve and update Supply Chain processes in synchronization with the growth and evolution of operations facility.
  • Identification and communication of risks to availability and quality of supplies, impact to budgets and delivery schedule. Participate in mitigation activities.
  • Ensure a focus for all team members on Health, Safety and the Environment in day to day and procurement activities.

Leadership of Logistics, Warehousing, Material Planning, and Supply team

  • Participate in all parts of the employee resourcing cycle, from identification of skill gaps, workload requirements, profile development, interviewing and hiring.
  • Supervise, plan, assign and review the work of team members related to shipping, receiving, maintaining inventories, and processing purchasing transactions.
  • Manage the team’s performance, development and growth through clear objectives, priorities and training plans.
  • Lead by example in the supply chain team and perform line management responsibilities, thus driving efficiency and a highly performing team.
  • Drive a culture of “No PO, No Go” within the supply chain and wider operations teams.

Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential suppliers

  • Leverage Marshall’s buying power to optimize costs, access new suppliers, reduce lead times, and guarantee supply.
  • Respond to customer service inquiries, clarify requirements and provide information as needed.
  • Handle escalated concerns from internal and external stakeholders and participate in problem solving for solutions.
  • Consult with suppliers. Prepare, disseminate and manage RFI, RFQ and review quotes. o Establish logistics of delivery schedules, monitor progress and contact suppliers to resolve problems.
  • Partner with the Quality Assurance team to plan external/supplier audit activities.

Optimize material availability while minimizing working capital across the production site

  • Develop local purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Identify vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, ensuring mitigation plans for shortages and/or delays.
  • Evaluate cost and quality of goods or services, may participate in the negotiation of purchase contracts.
  • Ensure purchase requisitions are processed in a timely fashion and ensure accurate and timely release of purchase orders by ensuring clear responsibilities.

Champion the ERP system

  • Identifying and building system requirements.
  • Learning, consulting on and executing ERP configuration.
  • Ensuring accuracy of data, data flows and outputs.
  • Providing ERP training and guidance to facility and support teams.
  • Monitoring ERP standards and coach team members to continuously improve processes and skills.
  • Detecting data quality issues and work with relevant stakeholders to ensure rectification – advises their team on the best way to proceed in case of error.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager – Purchasing & Supply Chain

Apply if you have most of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Business Administration, Commerce or Economics.
  • Supply Chain Management education from recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum 5-year experience working in a supply chain / purchasing role for a manufacturing facility.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the ITB / IPP Policy for Procurement is an asset.
  • Resolute understanding of the principles of MRP with at least 2 years' experience in this domain.
  • Above Average Microsoft Office 365 skills, with excel in particular.
  • Ability to understand own responsibilities and the responsibilities of the broader team to ensure clear direction and understanding of overall goals and objectives.
  • Strong, professional communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.

Must be eligible to meet the requirements of export control regulations, including the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and Canadian government security requirements.
