The Manager provides leadership, subject matter expertise and operational oversight across protective security, threat intelligence and geopolitical monitoring, situational risk management and advisory services. The role identifies and assesses emerging physical security threats, translates intelligence into practical security advice and protective measures, and coordinates responses to significant or emerging security concerns.

What You Will Do
  • Lead protective security services supporting employees, executives, corporate travel, significant events and other higher risk business activities.
  • Monitor and assess physical security, geopolitical and emerging threats that may affect Canada Life employees, locations, travel, events or operations, and provide timely, actionable advice to leaders and business partners.
  • Lead or coordinate threat and risk assessments and develop appropriate protective strategies and risk mitigation measures.
  • Lead the security planning and on-site execution for Board of Directors meetings, Annual General Meetings and other high-profile or sensitive corporate events, including multi-day events requiring extended on-site security oversight, coordination of security resources and protective measures, and management of emerging security issues.
  • Lead and oversee the Technical Surveillance Counter-Measures (TSCM) program, including the planning and coordination of TSCM assessments and sweeps for corporate locations, executive spaces, Board and other sensitive events, working with qualified external specialists as required.
  • Develop and oversee executive and event security plans and support travel risk assessment, monitoring and protective planning.
  • Support workforce safety matters involving threats, workplace violence, concerning behaviour or other elevated physical security risks.
  • Lead and support responses to serious or complex security incidents and investigations, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders, law enforcement and external security partners as required.
  • Conduct and support physical security risk assessments for people, locations, events and business activities and develop risk based recommendations.
  • Triage and prioritise protective security and risk intelligence requests, assign work, manage service delivery and elevate significant risks or issues.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and oversight to Corporate Physical Security employees and contribute to the continued development and maturity of the Corporate Physical Security program.
  • Build strong partnerships across the organisation and act as a trusted adviser on physical security risk, protective security and emerging threats.
  • Support security awareness, executive briefings and reporting on emerging risks, service activity and programme priorities.
  • Use technology and data to improve the efficiency, consistency and effectiveness of Corporate Physical Security services.
What You Will Bring
  • 10+ years of relevant physical security experience, including progressively responsible experience in security management, protective security, risk management, threat assessment, investigations or related disciplines.
  • Post-secondary education in security management, protection and security, criminology, intelligence, emergency management, risk management or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of physical security risk management, protective security, threat assessment and incident response.
  • Experience in executive protection, workplace threat management, event security, travel risk and/or intelligence led security operations is a significant asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess complex or sensitive security issues, exercise sound judgement and translate information into practical, risk based recommendations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong digital literacy and proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools. Experience using tools such as Microsoft Forms, SharePoint, Lists, Power Automate and related technologies to streamline workflows, automate processes, manage information and support reporting is a significant asset.
  • Understanding of physical security technologies, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection and incident management systems.
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), or other relevant professional designation is an asset.
  • Reliability Status Security Clearance – this can only be completed with candidates who receive an offer of employment.
