Job summary

Qualus in Canada is seeking a Manager, Project Management to lead a team of Project Managers and build delivery capability across transmission, substation, and distribution projects in Vancouver.

You will drive governance, resource planning, coaching, and continuous improvement, partnering with Program Managers and functional leaders to ensure safety, quality, schedule, cost, and client service. The role emphasizes leadership, mentorship, and consistent practices to deliver client outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
• PMP designation is considered an asset.
• 15+ years of engineering, project management, and/or operations experience on transmission, substation, or distribution projects, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
• Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing Project Managers.
• Strong knowledge of project-management governance, controls, resource planning, and delivery assurance.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to analyze delivery trends and implement practical improvements.
• Commitment to safety, quality, accountability, collaboration, and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage, mentor, onboard, and develop a team of Project Managers.
• Set clear performance expectations and conduct coaching, reviews, and career development planning.
• Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, safety, quality, and growth.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, and engagement initiatives.
• Plan project-management capacity and assign managers based on workload and priorities.
• Forecast demand and resolve resource gaps with program leaders.
• Monitor team utilization and staffing levels for current and upcoming work.
• Develop, implement, and maintain project-management governance, tools, and reporting standards.
• Coach PMs in planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and client communication.
• Conduct health checks and reviews to ensure controls are applied consistently.
• Escalate delivery risks and implement corrective actions.
• Serve as functional leader for PMs and escalation point for staffing matters.
• Collaborate with program managers, technical leaders, operations, finance, and clients.
• Participate in project and portfolio reviews and support business development.
• Lead training and maturity initiatives for the PM community.
• Promote standardization while enabling fit-for-purpose approaches.
