Reporting to the Director, Pharmacy Program, and collaborating with the Manager, Pharmacy Clinical Services, and Manager, Pharmacy Oncology and Compounding Services, the Manager, Pharmacy Operations, is a key member of the Pharmacy Leadership team. This role oversees operational services and technology in the main pharmacy department, which provides distribution services to inpatient areas and outpatient clinics (e.g., dialysis, medicine treatment clinics). The Manager is responsible for procurement, storage, compounding, and distribution of medications, ensuring compliance with best practices, the Controlled Substances Act, NAPRA, Ontario College of Pharmacists standards, and Accreditation Canada standards.
The Manager participates in pharmacy program planning, evaluation, budgeting, resource allocation, risk management, and quality improvement initiatives. They oversee the Pharmacy Technicians, Automation and Data Analytics Lead, and Pharmacy Informatics Team. The role involves developing operational teams, liaising between staff, physician leaders, and clinical service areas, and working on projects to promote growth, excellence in patient care, and hospital mission achievement. The Manager also engages in community activities and committees related to service improvement, demonstrating leadership, planning, project management, problem-solving, and change management skills.
