Job summary

Volkswagen Group Canada, Inc. is seeking a Manager of Organizational Development & Engagement to design and lead high-impact talent, learning, and engagement programs that drive a high-performance culture.

Reporting to the Senior Director of HR, you will partner with Global and NA HR, manage learning platforms, evaluate programs, and advance DEI and leadership development in a hybrid Ajax, Ontario environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, HR, OD or related field.
  • CHRP designation or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years in Organizational Development, Learning & Development, or related HR field.
  • Experience designing and delivering instructor-led and digital learning.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

Role Description

The Manager, Organizational Development & Engagement reports into the Senior Director, Human Resources and is responsible for the strategic design, development, facilitation, implementation, and evaluation of high-impact organizational development, learning, and engagement programs that build a high-performance culture and enhance organizational effectiveness.

This role provides leadership in talent management, employee and leadership development, instructor-led and self-directed learning programs, performance management, succession planning, employee engagement, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Key Responsibilites

Overall responsibility for the design, development, and execution of talent strategies with direct influence over learning and development, performance management, succession planning, employee engagement, and DEI initiatives. Collaborates with Global and North American HR partners to align talent priorities, share best practices, and advance people initiatives across the organization.

Training & Development
  • Develop and implement innovative learning and development strategies for employees at all levels across VGCA.
  • Conduct training needs analyses and collaborate with stakeholders to identify learning requirements and develop effective learning solutions.
  • Design and maintain learning content, facilitator materials, e-learning resources, assessments, and learning pathways using adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
  • Facilitate and deliver instructor-led and virtual learning programs, while coordinating external training providers where specialized expertise is required.
  • Manage learning programs and course administration, including HRIS set-up, assignments, communications, completion tracking, and reporting.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of learning initiatives through metrics, feedback, and reporting, and recommend continuous improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with mandatory and legally required training programs.
  • Manage training vendor relationships, contracts, and provide input into the annual learning and development budget.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to support onboarding, orientation, and employee development programs.
Talent Management
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of organizational development initiatives, including performance management, succession planning, and talent management programs.
  • Partner with HRBPs and business leaders to execute corporate performance management processes, including objective setting, performance reviews, development planning, communication, training, and measurement.
  • Manage and enhance talent management systems and processes, recommending and implementing improvements as required.
  • Drive talent identification and succession planning activities to support organizational capability and future workforce needs.
  • Collaborate with Global HR partners to implement global guidelines while advocating for local business requirements and market competitiveness.
Employee Engagement & DEI
  • Partner with executives, business leaders, and HR stakeholders to develop and execute VGCA's employee engagement strategy.
  • Manage employee engagement surveys, communications, reporting, action planning, and related metrics, including reporting requirements for regional and global stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement initiatives that strengthen workplace culture, employee engagement, organizational effectiveness, and positive social impact.
  • Support organizational change initiatives and foster a high-performance, inclusive culture.
  • Lead and support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in partnership with the DEI Committee and Global stakeholders, ensuring alignment with local cultural and business requirements.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on engagement and DEI metrics, provide recommendations for improvement, and stay informed on emerging trends and best practices.
  • Represent VGCA on Global DEI committees and related forums.
Qualifications
Formal Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation or equivalent related experience.
Experience
  • 7+ years of professional experience in Organizational Development, Learning & Development, Talent Management, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Experience designing and developing instructor-led training programs, learning curricula, and course materials for adult learners.
  • Experience delivering instructor-led training, leadership development programs, workshops, and large-group learning sessions in both virtual and classroom environments.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and managing multiple priorities, projects, and competing deadlines.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop and present recommendations to all levels within the organization.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Creative, innovative, and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Customer-focused and performance-driven approach.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills.
  • Strong process improvement orientation.
Specialized Skills, Knowledge, or Certifications
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and learning evaluation practices.
  • Certification in Adult Learning Facilitation is considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
Work Flexibility
  • This position is Hybrid, requiring a minimum of 3+ days in office.
  • Availability for occasional travel, as per business requirements.

Salary range is dependent on factors such as industry-based experience, skills, training, credentials, and other qualifications. The salary range for this role is $75,000 – $100,000, actual pay may vary based on experience, education, and internal compensation practices.
