Job Description

This is a 9-month Temporary Full Time position.

Sinai Health seeks an experienced clinical manager to lead our Nursing Resource Team (NRT). Reporting to the Senior Clinical Program Director for Surgical Services, the Manager will develop the NRT, a team created to address nursing staffing needs related to patient fluctuations, staffing replacements, and bed capacity expansions. The Manager will also support other clinical areas as needed.

The Manager will ensure that NRT staff deliver care aligned with Sinai Health’s vision, mission, and standards, complying with relevant legislation and professional guidelines. Responsibilities include monitoring and optimizing NRT operations through effective resource management, fostering a culture of quality, collaboration, and shared leadership.

About the Nursing Resource Team

The NRT plays a vital role in responding to the hospital’s dynamic patient care needs by providing last-minute RN staffing support across various inpatient units, including General Internal Medicine, Surgery, Psychiatry, and Emergency. Team members receive specialized training to support medical and surgical units.

Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Management:
  • Plan and execute recruitment and retention strategies
  • Recruit, develop, and manage staff
  • Maintain open communication, provide feedback, and conduct performance appraisals
  • Collaborate with interprofessional teams to uphold nursing standards
  • Promote the department’s philosophy, goals, and standards
  • Support positive employer/employee relationships and ensure staff training on policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with health guidelines and optimize resource utilization
Financial and Operations Management:
  • Manage budgets, monitor expenses, and control operations
  • Lead resource utilization and develop business cases for additional resources
  • Oversee inventory and supplies management
Leadership:
  • Serve as a liaison with clinical leadership
  • Model Sinai Health’s mission, vision, and values
  • Lead safety, risk management, and quality initiatives
  • Communicate effectively within the organization
  • Address inquiries and resolve issues collaboratively
  • Participate in committees and working groups
Service and Quality:
  • Foster a respectful, collaborative environment
  • Promote inclusion and teamwork
  • Manage quality improvement projects
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and develop policies
  • Monitor service quality and safety standards
  • Report on KPIs and workload metrics
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Graduate of a CNO-approved bachelor’s nursing program or equivalent experience
Preferred:
  • BScN degree
  • At least three years of acute care hospital experience
Skills and Knowledge
  • Leadership and team development skills
  • Understanding of risk management, emergency procedures, and infection control
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Commitment to collaborative practice and quality initiatives
