Job summary

Woodbridge is seeking an experienced Operations Materials Supervisor/Manager to lead the materials function in our Kitchener-area facility. You will schedule production, optimize raw material and finished goods inventories, and supervise HS&E activities while coordinating warehousing, shipping, and receiving.

Responsibilities include MRP runs, vendor releases, freight cost optimization, and performing cycle counts and audits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations and/or Supply Chain Management.
  • Five years of experience as a Materials Supervisor/Manager in a tier 1 environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems and inventory control.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive assigned KPI, Goals, Performance Management expectations.
  • Manage the materials function including scheduling of production and maintenance of optimum raw materials and finished goods inventory levels.
  • Supervise materials department including HS&E functions, as assigned by WKFP HS&E Appendix A, as well as assigned WPS tasks.
  • Management of warehousing, shipping and receiving activities.
  • Analysis and interpretation of customer releases.
  • Perform MRP and generate vendor releases.
  • Optimization of freight cost.
  • Responsible for AS400 information and liaison with IT department.
  • Responsible for implementation of safe work practices.
  • Provide backup coverage for shipping and receiving, as needed.
  • Lead and monitor cycle count frequency, accuracy, recounts, adjustments and investigation of issues until resolved.
  • Leads, coordinates with Finance and all departments preparation and execution of Physical Inventory
  • Participate and Lead in Audits and Assessments – IATF / ISO14001 / Internal HSE etc
  • Participate in APQP process

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Contribute as a key member of the plant management team.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • Knowledge and skills of computerized materials scheduling and inventory control including kanban scheduling techniques, production scheduling, purchasing, traffic and warehouse functions including shipping and receiving in a JIT environment.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems such as AS400, Epicor or other similar systems.
  • Strong proficiency with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft Office.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Tier 1 automotive experience to OEM (Toyota, Ford, GM, Rivian)
  • Direct experience with customer portals - Covisint, eDDL, SupplyPower, ts.com and Ascent
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience in Operations and/or Supply Chain Management.
  • Five years of experience as a Materials Supervisor/Manager or a related role in tier 1 environment.
