Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree in related quantitative discipline asset.
  • Professional designations such as CRM, CFA, or FRM asset.
  • Knowledge of financial instruments, capital markets, derivatives, and commodity risk management.
  • Advanced quantitative and analytical skills to build risk models (VaR, Greeks, scenario analysis, stress testing).

Greenfield is looking for a Manager, Market Risk, to join our growing team.

Position Overview

Greenfield Global Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and analytically rigorous Manager of Market Risk to hit the ground running as a member of our risk management team. This individual contributor role carries broad responsibility for the oversight, measurement, and reporting of commodity, financial, and counterparty risk across our ethanol production operations. You will own day-to-day hedging activities for corn, ethanol, and natural gas, be a key voice on our Risk Management Committee, and build a trusted partnership with executive leadership in shaping the company’s hedging strategy and risk governance framework.

Who You Are
  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field is required
  • Master’s degree in business, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline considered an asset

Your Experience Should Include
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in commodity market risk management, commodity trading, risk modeling, and analytics
  • Demonstrated hands‑on expertise in agricultural and energy commodities — specifically corn, ethanol, and natural gas — including deep familiarity with the physical and derivative markets that govern their pricing
  • Proven track record executing derivative transactions (futures, options, OTC) and managing hedge programs in a commodities environment
  • Experience managing implementation projects for risk and/or financial processes is an asset; hands‑on involvement in the configuration of commodity risk and trading functionality within DycoTrade (Microsoft D365) will be a key near‑term priority for this role
  • Proficiency with Bloomberg, broker platforms, and relevant ETRM or risk systems; experience with database, multi‑dimensional reporting, and statistical/mathematical software
  • Strong working knowledge of CBOT‑listed contracts (corn, ethanol) and NYMEX natural gas markets, including crush spread dynamics and their application to ethanol margin management
  • Familiarity with investment portfolio management techniques including risk‑adjusted returns and portfolio optimization
Job Responsibilities
Hedging & Trading Activities
  • Identify and quantify material commodity and financial risks, building and executing appropriate hedge strategies across corn, ethanol, natural gas, and correlated markets
  • Actively initiate and execute derivative transactions with brokers and counterparties across physicals, futures, options, and OTC instruments on CBOT and NYMEX
  • Recommend and implement hedge strategies that recognize natural hedges and leverage purchase programs and appropriate financial structuring
  • Track and manage margin requirements, funding obligations, and counterparty exposures within established limits
  • Create and adapt strategies in response to changing market conditions and the evolving ethanol business landscape
  • Main contact for all items natural gas via external consultant; including basis purchases, plant consumption forecasts/shutdowns, supply agreements and others with support from various internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor and manage foreign exchange exposure arising from commodity flows, including USD/CAD dynamics relevant to corn, as well as international DDGS and ethanol markets (EUR)
  • Maintain and develop relationships with external brokers, banks, and counterparties; serve as the primary day‑to‑day contact for derivative execution, margin management, and execute transactions.
Risk Governance & Corporate Oversight
  • Develop, implement, and monitor risk policies, procedures, and standards that protect financial results and align with the company's strategic plan
  • Partner with executive management to establish and maintain risk tolerances and ensure they are well understood across the organization
  • Act as a key stakeholder in trader governance, applying VaR and financial limits per Trading Policy guidelines
  • Assist in risk assessment of sales and off‑take agreements and evaluate risk implications of proposed business activities
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, provincial, state, and local regulations and industry standards
Models, Analytics & Stress Testing
  • Develop and implement risk measurement methodologies, quantitative models, and analytical tools consistent with industry’s best practices and the company's strategic objectives
  • Conduct scenario analyses, stress testing, back testing, and other statistical methodologies to assess enterprise risk and hedge strategy effectiveness
  • Validate model assumptions, data inputs, and outputs; coordinate independent third‑party model reviews as appropriate
  • Maintain and enhance analytical frameworks for risk‑adjusted decision‑making, portfolio optimization, and economic capital allocation
Risk Management Committee & Reporting
  • Drive the weekly Market Risk Working Group (MRWG) by preparing a commodity overview deck covering current market trends, exposures, hedge positions, and strategic recommendations
  • Design and produce timely risk and hedge reports at appropriate organizational levels — daily, weekly, and monthly — for senior leadership and key stakeholders
  • Monitor deviations from risk tolerances and work with relevant teams to develop remediation plans and return to compliance
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from key internal stakeholders and business unit leads
  • Participate in commodity review, financial planning, and sales pricing meetings to assess and communicate risk implications
Total Compensation & Care
  • Base salary dependent on experience and demonstrated performance – $132,000 – $150,000
