Job summary

Greenfield Global Inc. is seeking a Production Manager in Chatham, Ontario, reporting to the Plant Manager.

You will own safety, environmental compliance, production, quality, and efficiency, leading a team to drive continuous improvement and reliable production of alcohol, fuel ethanol, DDG, WDG, CDS, corn oil and CO₂. You will align operations with plant objectives and regulatory standards, manage budgets, and collaborate with Maintenance, QA and Project & Innovation to optimize performance

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years supervisory or leadership experience in a continuous process facility.
  • Experience with alcohol production background is an asset.
  • Proven experience in establishing a vision, setting objectives and change management.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, oversee, and comply with all Company health and safety, environmental, and quality policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish, prioritize, and lead implementation strategies to achieve department and plant objectives, optimal plant performance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Determine future needs and priorities, and establish the technical direction for the process and department.
  • Collaborate with the Chatham leadership team to develop and implement business action plans.
  • Establish objectives, priorities, and support team activities for direct reports; communicate requirements and changes; foster a team-based culture.
  • Coordinate training for the group; conduct regular safety and communication meetings; provide growth opportunities; administer performance evaluations.
  • Responsible for annual department budget, monthly cost reports, and all relevant general ledger accounts.
  • Work with Project & Innovation to evaluate capital needs and project scope; work with Maintenance to optimize equipment and outages; work with QA to ensure product quality.
  • Lead ISO 9001 Quality Program standards and legislation; ensure GMPs, FSMA, FEMAS, FSSC and other food and feed safety compliance.

Greenfield is looking for aProduction Manager to join our growing team.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager is responsible for establishing departmental objectives in the areas of Safety, Environmental Compliance, Production, Quality, and Operational Efficiency, while developing and implementing strategies that drive continuous improvement and sustainable results. This role has full ownership, accountability, and responsibility for all activities within the Production department, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable production of industrial alcohol, fuel ethanol, DDG, WDG, CDS, corn oil, and CO₂.

The Production Manager provides leadership and direction to the Process Operators, Operations Coordinator, Production Engineer, and Process & Innovation Specialist, fostering a high-performing team focused on achieving departmental goals. Working closely with plant leadership, this position ensures operations are aligned with plant objectives, corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Who You Are:
  • University degree or college diploma in a related field
  • A minimum of five years supervisory or leadership experience in a continuous process facility. Experience with alcohol production background is an asset
  • Proven experience in establishing a vision and setting objectives, and change management
  • Experience with performance management, developing people and achieving results through others
  • Advanced ability to evaluate and interpret technical reports and correspondence
  • Good knowledge of EH&S regulatory requirements
  • Comfortable with people; proven experience of leading and facilitating teams of people
  • Has clear communication, team focus and expectations. Assumes full ownership and responsibility over the department to develop team to their highest potential
  • A team leader, open-minded, and can work effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds

Job Responsibilities:
  • Implement, oversee, and comply with all Company health and safety, environmental, and quality policies and regulatory requirements
  • Establish, prioritize, and lead implementation strategies to achieve department and plant objectives, optimal plant performance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Stay current on industry performance standards and best practices, and ensure that the plant facility meets or exceeds benchmark standards
  • Determine future needs and priorities, and establish the technical direction for the process and department
  • Collaborate, evaluate, and prioritize plant objectives, and participate in the development and implementation of business action plans as a member of the Chatham leadership team
  • With respect to direct reports, the Production Manager is expected to:
    • Establish objectives, priorities, and support team activities
    • Communicate regularly with all employees regarding operating requirements, and operating and procedural changes
    • Foster a team-based culture
    • Regulate vacation policy and ensures that crew skills are balanced
    • Coordinate training for the group
    • Conduct regular safety and communication meetings
    • Provide growth opportunities for all reports
    • Administer performance evaluations
  • Responsible for annual department budget, monthly cost reports, and all relevant general ledger accounts
  • Work closely with the Project and Innovation team to evaluate and prioritize capital needs and project scope
  • Work closely with the Maintenance team to optimize the efficiency of equipment and all planned outages
  • Work closely with the QA Manager to ensure excellence in product quality
  • Takes a lead role in and ensures compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Program standards and legislation
  • Takes a lead role in and ensures plant compliance in GMPs, FSMA, FEMAS, FSSC and other food and feed safety
  • Other duties and responsibilities aligned to business objectives and in support of our core principles.
Total Compensation & Care:
  • Base salary dependent on experience and demonstrated performance– $145,000–$165,000
